what settings do u suggest for the YAG?
As you know, I do not like to talk about settings on public Forums. All I can say is that you need a spot size of 15 mm in my opinion ( Not 18 ) with decent energies and medium pulse widths.
Okay, time to let you know the truth. There are MANY folks on this site who have plenty of knowledge and good intentions, yet they will rarely acknowledge that patchiness on the male face is both common and a result of LHR that cannot be resolved with any laser treatments. Your pictures look much like mine did after 9 sessions of laser with two different companies (one of those was from SSLHR who is mentioned in the 3rd post of this thread). Some hair is too strong and/or deep along the jawline/near the mouth to get killed by lasers. I cannot vouch for how common this result is for men, but it does not matter when it is you (and me).
I have switched to electrolysis to remove these dark hairs and it takes plenty of time and money to do this. Go ahead and listen to all of us who are posting our opinions here, but do consider this point - some guys have dark beards that get patchy results from laser and there is no resolution other than many long sessions of electrolysis.
Good luck and please do keep posting your progress here as a permanent record of your journey, problems, and (hopefully) resolution!
Except he hasn’t had 9 treatments. He’s only had 2. You had a lot of treatments that weren’t great for an extended period of time, doubling up the patchiness and not fixing it when it first started. The “truth” is that we’re helping him fix this before it gets to the situation tha tyou’re in.
Did you have any treatments with a Yag laser that penetrates deep? I don’t recall, but from what I remember your treatments weren’t with a Yag laser.
Yag is no good either cuz I had yag settings on my hairline which never grew back yag has ability to cause patchy results too i wish u the besstt and wish it’s temporary
Lasers don’t create patchy results, operators that use too low settings or that miss spots do. Yag in general is not as good as alexandrite but for a man’s facial hair it is, as it works best on very dark coarse hair. It also has the deepest penetration and facial hair is very deep. Only the yag worked on my facial hair. The thing people seem to be missing here is that after 1 or 2 treatments, even if you treated half your face twice and not the other half, the difference would barely be noticeable. You need more than 2 treatments for that, he just needs to stop treatments all together and let it all grow back before doing laser all over the place which is going to make it worse.
theres no way i could go 3-5 months like this waiting for it to grow back. i have to get it all out, and I will deal with the regrowth issues if and when they arise.
All good points - I won’t contest them or deny that all of us want to help. However, in contrast to the mainstream advice, I offer a warning of what may come and for guys in this situation to be prepared with a balanced view of what may be in store for him (and I am not alone as other posts on here reflect such a concern). After all, in a year, he may have HIS 9th treatment without improvement! And Smooth Solutions does have both the Alex & YAG lasers (both Candela and Cynosure) - I used the YAG several times before I quit.
Are you reading anything that we are writing? Who ever said 3-5 months for regrowth? It’s around 8-10 weeks from treatment time so you’re half way there already. Legs are the slowest area and take around 3 months, but nothing takes 4 or 5, face is very fast 10 weeks max.
Justin,
Be patient, we will take care of this for you. Do not worry. If need be, I 'll have you come to New York.
So, how did things turn out for Justin?
It is my understanding that his situation is taken care of to his satisfaction.
