"upper-lip gate"

As a restless professional, I am interested in everything that you are willing to share. As someone who deeply appreciates you, I would see that your time and effort was rewarded. And this time I’m not referring to the economic aspect (which it should), but the recognition of a whole collective that sometimes seems so ungrateful.

Maybe I’m not being politically correct, but damn! I always had the feeling that none of us deserves your dedication.

It is what it is and you can’t change the world of electrology on this website and the AEA sure as hell isn’t going to do anything but keep a stiff upper lip.

I’m thinking of a way to redesign the professional electrolysis forum to include what you suggest, Michael. Of course, Andrea would need to be presented with “brochures” on scabs, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, swelling, red dots, etc. Pictures are extremely helpful and would be included.

If you think Hairtell would be an acceptable vehicle to post your brochures on normal temporary side effects that can be used by any practitioner or for Hairtell readers, I’m sure it could be done. If you want the AEA to control this information, I don’t see why they wouldn’t grab at the chance.

Yes, I get weary sometimes addressing repeat questions here, but I always think back about things in my life that worried me and how I felt when some one actually cared enough to address my concerns personally. So, it would be great if there was a “place” to post concepts that reassure people, but some have very specific questions and concerns and require individualized attention.

Brenton, an electrolysis FAQ is a good idea. Until that happens, I included the British FAQ’s in my signature (because I think it is very good) or the consumer can look up the AEA FAQ’s on their own. Those associations are not as detailed as one can get on an electrolysis blog like Hairtell, but they are indeed helpful.

Mike raised a great big concern that has been on my mind for years : there has been a lot of great information over the years that gets pushed back and that information gets harder to find as time goes by, so we repeat and repeat. I’m for anything that can fix this problem and I am thinking about solutions, too.

Hi Dee Dee,

YES, I was specifically talking about the “lost gems of knowledge” that you speak about. I have started a brochure/hand out. I’m also asking for suggestions on topics (contact me thru my private email.)

But, as you say … my issue is “control.” My ONLY requirement is that everybody may use whatever I produce in ANY way they want. If Hairtell likes it … sure. If the AEA likes it … of course. I’m hoping that individual electrologists like it enough to put it on their own websites … maybe just print it out and use it as a hand-out. There will be no copyright, so it will be free. Yes, even businesses may use it. It’s ALL about disseminating information. If AEA wants to “sanction” it and put their logo on it … I’m ALL for it!

However, if AEA puts everything in a “committee of old buffalos” that baselessly nit-picks the hell out of it for “decades”… well, that’s another story. It has happened to me WAY too many times with AEA! Example: when I re-drew the AEA and CPE logo, the committee didn’t think the “blue” was exactly right and wanted me to redraw the whole thing … another week on the thing? I refused to do it, and they finally took it just as it is. I think it looks okay; and they are using it. And, I never got a “thank you” or even a “F… you!” ha ha ha! And, that’s really fine too.

I can assure you that anything I write, such as scabs, etc., will be reviewed and scrutinized by the several doctors that work with me. The article will be devoid of personal opinion and will be based on science only. My “tele” book was reviewed many times.

When it comes to the internet, it’s the “PEOPLE” that are taking the lead. People want FREE information and they want it “right now” without any sort of hyperbole or advertisement. Have you ever been trying to get information and were redirected to an advertisement? Once that happens you NEVER go back to the site. Even a sign-in can annoy people and make them go to another site in a “New York minute.”

The internet is democracy. All of us have only one directive, and that is to tell the unvarnished truth (well, as you see it)! As you know, my “Kryptonite” is self-adulation, grandstanding, exaggerating, making up stories about “your greatness” … well, you get the picture. I don’t mind “ego” … but only if it’s truly earned.

Of course, I’m edging closer to doing my own website (actually with a web master in Norway, of all places). What I envision is TONS of photographs of real treatments in progress. PEOPLE WANT TO SEE THIS! Don’t TELL me, SHOW me! Give me the facts.

And, I already have a dermatologist and plastic surgeon that would be willing to answer those “pesky” questions with REAL medical understanding … not just groundless opinions from anybody and everybody. (Squeeze a pimple! Don’t squeeze a pimple! Put “monkey oil” on the skin … or no “monkey oil.” All the information together eventually causes a vacuum.

Yeah, I’m still a “fired-up old bastard!” (I had too much coffee this morning!)
