upper lip electrolysis - general time?

Hi everybody

I’ve been having electrolysis on my upper lip for around 2 months now (after around 7 years of waxing and tweezing). My electrolysist does around 15-20 minutes each session on my lip and I usually see him every other week (sometimes 2 weeks in a row, depending on how much growth there is). We have done longer sessions but usually 20 min

I was just wondering if somebody could give me any type of approximate of how much longer this might take? It’s so painful for me and the numbing creams don’t do much. I know each case is different, but if you could throw some general numbers at me, it might make me feel better! Or worse haha

The hairs are not really reduced yet… We usually pretty much clear the area, and a week later it’s nearly all back. The very dark ones haven’t come back in a while though… Either way I really trust him so I’m not too worried about that, it’s just that I don’t know if I can handle the pain for another 12 months :frowning:

The right person to ask is, well, your electrologist!

The one working on you will give you the best answer … right? He knows you, sees your skin and hairs, and understands the years of “mangling” that you did?

I suppose you have asked him? (Or, are you “checking up on him?”) It happens, and that’s okay too. You did say, “You really trust him.” And, that’s good. Aren’t you satisfied with his answer?

He’s said just said it take months to finish a lip, but I don’t want to be that person who keeps pushing for more specific answers. I guess it confuses me because I’ve read some people go for treatments weekly and other bi-weekly and then others twice a month, so if I’m going weekly, I’d hoped it would be over more like 3 months for me

I’ll ask him more directly when I see him this week. Thank you for your advice! Do you know an average time in the people you’ve treated? For more finer hairs, not the very dark and thick ones (mine are dark because I have dark hair generally, but not coarse, except for 2 or 3, if that makes sense)

Good for you Tamara! DON’T be afraid to ask ANY professional that is doing something to your precious body!

Let me start by exploding your balloon … “3 months” is ONLY getting you to the “starting gate!” At three months of treatment … well, we are only saying “hello hairs, how are you … nice to see you!”

And, this doesn’t matter how many times you go in for an appointment. At three months, your zapper is ONLY starting to get you out of the mess you created from years of plucking. He seriously needs to fill you in to the challenges ahead!

Gosh, I’m sorry for being so direct … I mean no disrespect. I just tell it like it is (or “as I see it,” is probably a better statement). I never hold back “bad news” and the reality of electrolysis treatment. Electrolysis totally delivers, but that “verdamte"* upper lip has always been my nemesis.
