I’ve started having electrolysis 2 weeks ago, originally due to hair overgrowth on my penis but also decided to do a small part of my chest, and my cheeks.
I started with the cheeks and a chest/genitals waxing, I’m happy about my choice to treat this hair - but from reading this board I’m not sure about the actual practitioner.
My gripes:
She didn’t say anything about pain medication on the first consultation.
I asked what I should avoid - she just said I’d be fine, nothing about avoiding sun, exercise, sex (for the genitals).
She said just to apply vitamin E to the area, she never heard of witch hazel, and didn’t say anything about aloe vera.
She talks and talks, it’s quite taxing - plus I worry it effects her performance.
She doesn’t apply anything after the electrolysis ! but just cleans the area with some form of pleasant alcohol or something like that.
Been 2 weeks and the skin on my cheeks hasn’t fully healed yet, was very red the first two days after for such few hairs.
Had a waxing on the genitals and chest, but instead of holding the penis herself she told me to do it - which I find slack, and also resulted of me losing grip because of the obvious pain and caused some tearing. (though it all healed)
A few good things:
Quite fast.
Rounds the charges down which is a plus.
Explained the 3 cycles of hair growth (which shows she’s not here to rip me off) in a very thorough way, and appears to have quite an understanding of what’s going on.
Not that new to it, been doing it for 5 years and she has quite a few clients.
I’d really appreciate some feedback, I have a couple of weeks to my next session, but thinking of having consultation elsewhere.
Well, at the very least, you have us here to tell you about pre- and post-treatment care. If she is doing good work, fine. You may need to sample other people in your area to know who does the best job where you live.
You pretty much summed it up in a short post, thanks.
I’ll do just that.
I think the whole thing still points to her general knowledge and it’s annoying she mentioned hyperpigmentation from sun exposure only a week after I had the cheeks done, and only after I explicitly asked.
By the way, what would be the best procedure of witch hazel and aloe ? do I apply the witch hazel on a clean skin and after 10-15 minutes apply the aloe vera ?
If I were doing witch hazel and Aloe, I would do the witch hazel first, and then the aloe after the witch hazel dried. Although one doesn’t necessarily have to wait until it dries.
I would also advise Tea Tree Oil overnight, as it would help you heal faster, and would dissolve any necrotic tissue and keep you from developing any puss overnight.
I’ve noticed some operators have a definite opinion about genital electrolysis and some will not do it entirely. Your operator seems to be on the fence. Since it’s only been your first treatment, she is probably still figuring you out. If she thinks it’s a sexual thing, she might be reluctant to do it.
I find it interesting that you stressed that after your treatment she didn’t apply anything to your penis.
Ahh James now I’m confused - I thought I only apply these things overnight.
I tried searching the forums for a couple of hours but I guess I’m not good at these things.
Maybe you can tell me when should I apply the witch hazel, aloe and tea tree ? and for how many days post treatment ?
Thanks !
I was actually reffering to my cheeks not the genitals, which I am led to believe they could have been healed better if she applied proper after care and instructed me on these things.
I only had my genitals waxed, and she told me she does full brazilians on a daily basis, for quite a few years and she thinks nothing of it.
I think you need to sample a couple others and compare. You shouldn’t have side effects on your cheeks lasting 2 weeks. It would probably be beneficial for you to find someone who specializes in electrolysis and does that all day long, instead of someone who does a lot of waxing and other services.
Where are you located? we may be able to help with recommendations. also, run a search for your city and/or state.
I’m at brisbane australia area, did a search here but didn’t come with anything.
From my search online and in phonebooks I only came up with two other places though they seem kinda far from where I’m at, I guess I should get a consultation still.
i am new to this website and i am looking for a good electrolygist in brisbane too. i found a few places online but so far only one place is specialised in electrolysis all the other places are beauty salons. i wouldn’t really wanna go to those because they may only treat a few people a week and don’t have the newer equipment.
so how did you go with your consultation?
would you recommend the place?
or could anyone else help out please?
