Unhappy with my clinic

Basically I keep getting patchy results and when I discuss this with them they said “patchiness shows its working”.
Im getting a “5-10, touchup” on the areas that were missed (around 40% of chest, arms).
I went to another clinic and they were shocked at how much was missed and how quick I was treated.

I’ve had 3 treatments.

He keeps on going on about how if I stopped laser now and keep shaving it would grow back evenly?

This will be the last treatment I get with this clinic, going to switch to a gentlease.

There could be a number of reasons why it is growing back patchy.

  1. The patchiness is down to the hairs being put into different cycles due to touch up’s. I personally found if I had a touch up after 4 weeks on my chest it would out sync my hair.
If the hair is simply in different cycles, yet evenly reduced all the same, you could either have 3 more treatments with a practitioner who has a good overlapping tecnique or you could try waxing the hair back into synchronisation.

  2. The actual hair has been reduced more in one area than another. This will not be fixed by waxing or leaving it all to grow back. In this case you could have 3 more treatments with a quality practitioner who has a good overlapping tecnique to try to even things out as much as possible.

  3. A mix of both.

If the practitioner you are going to at the moment misses up to 40% that is a very large amount and does sound like he’s more interested in your money and then your outcome. A GentleLASE would also be able to give you the best results based on your skin type, try out several clinics before making a decision so that you can get a idea of which one you find the best.

Do you have any photos at all?

You’re correct. It sounds like they’re missing a lot of spots. You can come in 2-3 weeks after your treatment and show what hasn’t shed. At that point, it should be obvious what’s growing as usual.

Ok, here are pictures.

This lot is 8 weeks after 2nd treatment with harmony laser.

I’m going in for a “quick touch up” tomorrow, although I don’t know how effective that will be.

I have not had laser on my chest, but I have experienced similar patchiness on my face after laser. It does seem a bit excessive though. With each treatment on my face, I noticed the patchiness improving each time and the patches becoming smaller and smaller, similar to your 2nd and 3rd treatment pic. Now there is only a little patchiness left. Of course, the hair on the chest is far less dense, so the patchiness should not be so excessive??

How painful has the laser been on the chest?

Well, in the second round of pictures, you can clearly see that a ton of spots were missed. You need to ask them to overlap by at least 10% when treating. This is pretty bad work.

As lagirl said, they really need to overlap by 10%. If the practitioner used a proper overlapping tecnique, combined with a reasonable amount of time to treat this area, this patchiness would not be the case.

Male facial hair is incredibly dense, so any area that recieves slightly more treatment (even if the entire face recieved at least some) would possibly lead to patchiness. But as Vicky said, the chest is not as thick as male facial hair so this is unlikely to happen if the RIGHT tecnique is used.

Personally, I found laser on my chest painful, but bareable (nipples and lower abdomen were the most painful parts).
