Unexpected result..

I’m an Asian…and i had 2 hair removal treatments
and i got a problem:hair came out just like they are not treated at some places on my body…
they use Gentlelase…
i asked people there to be careful before the second treatment(because they might miss some), but hair came out again at the same place after second treatment.
Anyone experienced this?
here are some pictures…

interesting…

What joule setting did they use each time? How long did you wait from the first treatment to the second? I presume you are a male, correct? Do you have before pictures too?

hold on…do you realize that you need 6-8 treatments for substantial removal? did you experience shedding after everything treatments and then hair grew back in? whatever grows in after shedding is NEW hair that was dormant before. at any time more than 60% of your hair is dormant, so 6-8 treatments are necessary to get it all. was that explained to you during your consultation?

also, in your previous posts, you said they were only using 10 joules on GentleLASE. Did they raise the settings this time? and most importantly once again, was there shedding?

Also, just a side note, judging from your pictures, you have very little hair. So after a few treatments once you get the most you can out of laser, electrolysis should be a quick way to get rid of the rest for you.

Looks like they missed a few spots. The other areas look just about hair-free. This is a case where you may want to shave two days before your next treatment (instead of the day before or day of treatment) so that about 1mm of hair is showing so they can see they spots that they missed.

The instructions for many lasers say it is OK to leave 1mm so they can see growth patterns. This is sometimes done after multiple treatments so the tech can see what’s left.

really??? i thought they required one to shave right before a treatment so that there shouldnt be any hair growing out of the skin as it might end up in a burn. Then again, i might be wrong. WHat do u guys think?

They normally do recommend shaving right before the treatment. But after several treatments, when there is sparse regrowth, it is OK to leave 1mm above the skin so they can see the regrowth. And once the tech sees that they know specifically where the regrowth is and then shave it if necessary before the treatment. So leaving 1mm of hair above the skin surface is really meant just for touchups IMHO.

Based on my experience, I would say it usually is best to completely shave the area to be treated just prior to the appointment, whether it’s the night before or day of. Since the original poster has a few very small areas of hair that need a touch up treatment leaving 1mm of hair above the skin should not cause a problem. I have done that a few times and did not get burned at all.

I did leave about 2-3 days of stubble before treatments on areas where you wouldn’t be able to see where the hair was if you came in right after shaving. if it’s just a little bit, it’s fine. you won’t get burned. It just can’t be too long.

…And then the hair that shed eventually grows back in as well. This has been proven. What she experienced is right along the lines of what many others, most others, experience. Laser just doesn’t offer a permanent solution.

If laser treatment was at all what they claim, the results would be linear, not parabolic. After one treatment, there would be results. Why give someone six times the amount of money just to get the same results. That’s exactly what I was told, 'Go get five more treatments. Five treatments later, what did it prove. How many times does it have to be said. What will it take for people to understand:

Laser has never been proven to work permanently …Never.

I mean, with all the money these laser manufacturers have, don’t you think they would finance at least one study to prove permanence? I mean …at least one??? I posted a study in the “Laser Most Likely To Fail” thread. A study based on common sense.

ok, then how do you explain RC2001’s results? work of God? and several treatments are not just necessary for laser hair removal. you’re being misleading. electrolysis also requires multiple treatments due to hair growth cycles and you’re trying to imply that this is due to ineffectiveness of laser.

Do antibiotics work on everyone? Do vaccinations work on everyone? Does chemotherapy work on everyone? Does the low carb diet craze work for everyone? Does tylenol work for everyone? Do airbags work every time? Does arthroscopic surgery alleviate pain every time? Does toothpaste prevent cavities every time? Many studies, all shown results for effectiveness. Nothing works all the time. Does that mean they are all useless?
I’m not pro or con laser but do have an open mind.

Well said grumpy! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
