Uk intensive electrolysis

Hello,

There have been a few interesting threads recently about people in the UK travelling long distances for intensive treatment options, as much local provision suffers from a lack of full time experienced electrolysis practicioners. This has inspired me to think about doing something similar myself.
While my problems are not as bad as some people on here, I do have quite a lot of fine/medium dark hair on many areas of my body, and it does get me down. (I’m female.)

I’ve been going for weekly treatments on my lower legs since January, and though I am happy with the quality of the work, progress can be frustratingly slow, especially since there are many other areas i’d like to cover (upper leg, buttocks, stomach, upper arms, possibly lower arms, upper lip and sides of face.)

I would love to go to Maire Hawkes in Oban but since I can’t drive it would be a real mission to get up there. Mairi if you are reading this I think I remember a thread a while back where you mentioned possibly working in Glasgow some of the time, is this still a possibility?

I decided to look up all areas of the country on the M.B.I.A.E site and found a couple interesting looking places, both also in Scotland as it happens.

There is a place in Glasgow that seems to have many M.B.I.A.E registered electrologists. Does anyone have any knowledge/experience of the their work? (Is it ok to post a link?)

This place in the Scottish borders looked good, and specifically mentioned the possibility of treatment holidays. Unfortunately it dosn’t look like the easiest place to get to on public transport.

If any one has any advice I’d appreciate it, I am feeling uncertain how to proceed just now. I also thought people could use this thread to collect possible places that do more intensive treatments in the UK and beyond.

Great idea. Although I think it is better for people to come forward with anywhere they have had firsthand experience with.

Having a number of BIAE registered electrologists doesn’t mean they are equipped or accustomed to intensive work or large body area work. For example, my old salon in London had 4 BIAE registered electrologists.
As an aside, in regards to the one clinic you linked, since they also offer Laser, I imagine they recommend their body work or large area clients to go for that.

The faq page of the cherrytree place sounds promising.

Hi Roobarb, From July I will be open on Thursdays in the West End of Glasgow.
I know About Face has a good all round reputation, however not sure about their availability for long session, I have contacted June from Cherrytree to ask her, will get her to post here. Also I am in the process of finding practitioners who are exclusively or at least doing electrolysis most of the time through the BIAE. As stoppit mentioned it will be better to get feed back from clients.

Hello there, I am June and Mhairi kindly asked me to look in.

My treatment room is CherryTree Electrolysis and it is in Peebles which is around 25 miles South of Edinburgh. (Half-hourly bus service to and from Edinburgh. Journey time-1 hour approx)
Not difficult to get to at all.

I am a dermatology nurse and electrolysis specialist. I am happy to offer longer sessions and also ‘treatment holidays’.

What this means is - I will find the type of accommodation you would like, send you details, and work out a treatment schedule for you during your stay. The idea is to be able to have a wee holiday whilst maintaining/accelerating your electrolysis regime instead of interrupting or slowing it.
Peebles is a lovely country town and offers loads of activities as well as relaxation, retail therapy and quality restaurants and cafes.

Other treatments include Surgical Electrolysis and Remedial Skin Camouflage. Cataphoresis is always offered post treatment, crushed ice always available, cups of tea, your choice of music, products to try…

I belong to the British Institute and Association of Electrolysis and am an assessor for them.
I am a member of the BDNA (Brit. Derm. Nurses Assoc.) and the Scottish derm. Nurses Soc. - also representing the latter for the Primary Care sector of the Nhs.

My machine happens to be an Apilus Senior 2 which I love, but I maintain that it’s what you do with it that really makes all the difference in the world. I like the versatility of it and this comes into its own in client comfort more than efficacy.

I can heartily recommend About Face in Glasgow to you. There they use customised Sterex SXB machines and their standards and results are, i believe, very good. Their clients include Nhs referrals and people of TG.

Hope this helps someone to choose an electrolysist - thank you for having me on your pages
June x

Thanks for making an appearance, June. Credentials sound great!
