Type V Skin - Laser Questions

Female, 20’s, Type V skin? (caramel color)

To sum it up…
Areas where I should have hair I have LOTS of thick black hair
Areas where I should NOT have hair I have alot of very fine hair

I did laser many years ago and was a victim on Laser Induced Hair growth on my chin/neck area.
After many years of suffering with the additional growth I am now getting electrolosys in that area.

But b/c of the surface area involved I would like to try laser again in the following areas.

Bikini Line - thick, dark hair but scattered…still trying to decide if I should just do electrolysis with this one.
Partial Brazillian - very thick, very dark, very dense hair.
Lower Legs - thick, dark hair…lasered this many year ago (1 time) and I think it did help.

What type of machine is best for me? Yag?

What setting do you think I should start with?

Are any of these areas also candidates for Laser Induced Hair Growth?

What’s the website to find a technician in a particular? I believe some of the manufacturers have ‘locaters’ on their website?

Also I am very prone to ingrowns when shaving and even more when waxing…does this affect anything?

Use a YAG laser only. Candela and Cynosure have popular YAG machines.

Use the largest spot size at the highest settings your skin can handle. The bikini and leg areas are not prone to the laser induced growth phenomenon.

Candela has a provider search. Not sure about Cynosure. Google is also a great way to find a local practitioner.

Being prone to ingrowns will not matter. You may want to invest in a product like Tend Skin.

Yag laser is needed here. Those areas are great for laser. Count on 6-8 treatments spaced 8-12 weeks apart.

Check out the FAQs at the link below. I provide links to manufacturer sites (Cynosure and Candela). You can also run a search here for your city and see if any clinic with a Yag has been previous recommended.

Having treatments will actually make most ingrowns go away and no reappear.
