Trying to sell my Starlux 500 laser

I’m selling my Palomar Starlux 500 Medical Laser. I bought it brand new in 2008 and it is barely used. It works perfectly…I’m only selling it because times have been financially tough. I paid twice as much when I bought it, but I’m willing to sell it for $70K or to the highest bidder. Make me an offer, I just want to get rid of it. It would be great for it to find a home with somebody who will use it and get some value from it. Like I said, I barely even used the thing.

It comes with two heads. I can provide the names of the heads and the mileage on each one.

it’s not a damn laser. It seems to be a variable wavelength (VPL/IPL) device. ???

Well, I wish you luck with your sale. But I can’t really endorse it, because for that much money someone can just buy a real laser (like the GentleLASE) instead.

Does this machine treat skin conditions and pigmentation as well? It may only be a mediocre hair removal tool, but perhaps a dermatologist would get some great use out of it.

Palomar makes some of the better IPLs for hair removal, but it’s still an IPL…

The Starlux 500 is actually the latest and greatest from Palomar, and offers both Laser and IPL in the same device. I have the LuxRs handpiece for hair removal (Laser) and the LuxG handpiece for skin spots and pigmentation (IPL).

Here are the shot counts:
LuxRs = 53,682
LuxG = 9,038

I’m hoping another dermatologist will see this post and perhaps see a good deal on a slightly used machine!

There is no benefit to having an IPL in that machine. And the laser part is a diode, which isn’t the most effective.

You’re better off going with a straight alexandrite like GentleLASE with an 18mm spot size for light skin.

We’ve had a few offers on the machine, but it’s still available. We’ve lowered the price to 50K.
