trying to save some heartache

Hello! I am currently having elecrolysis done on my face once weekly for one year now and things are going very well and I am amazed by what happens when you stick to it and are faithful. My question is actually on behalf of my mother-in -law. She is currently going through laser resurfacing treatments at a very nice dermatologist office and she regularly waxes her upper lip and chin, not so much for like dark thick hair but just because she doesnt want fuzzies there. So I want to make it clear that she does not have major hair issues like stubble or course black hairs. So anyways, she was told that she can not wax right now because is could take her skin off right with the wax (ouch!!!) which makes sence since her skin is very “new” and that she could do threading instead or laser at their office. So of course not knowing much about laser she was so excited to think that her fuzzies and stuff could be “totally gone in just 6 easy treatments for $750”. I have been reading on this site for over a year now and from what I have read about stories about getting laser on womens faces especially when it is not the right type of hair is that it can be very bad. I am just worried for her and I dont want to see her get taken advantage of and then maybe even have more hair in the end. I would appreciate anyones input for this situation and also I know there are several posts on here about womens stories when their hair gets worse from laser, but I don’t know how to find them so she can read them for herself. Is laser a good idea for her even in the slightest? Thank you!

Heather

p.s. of course i tell her about electro and i hope that is the route she goes, but for some reasone i could just see her continuing to thread before she went through electro and all the appointment keeping stuff because her hair issue is not that bad at all so the electro regime might seem too serious for her. BUT I WILL KEEP TRYING TO CONVINCE HER! =)

Electrolysis would certainly be better for her as you have witnessed so far with your electrologist. I would not invest time or money in laser because her hair color and structure is not even close to being ideal for even some hair reduction success. Induced hair growth does not happen as a rule, but it could happen. I think I would be focusing on paying $750 and not getting any hair reduction for those light fuzzies. Use the search feature for ‘laser induced hair stimulation’. Find “laserhater’s” posts.

Yes, try to convince her about electrolysis. She’ll come to that realization someday anyway. Threading is like waxing. It is a terrible, terrible, terrible thing to do for facial hair. It only makes future removal with electrolysis more prolonged and challenging.
