Triluma bleaching cream for hyper-pig. after LHR ?

Hi,

I have several hyper-pigmentation spots as a result of Soprano Laser XL.

I was prescribed Triluma bleaching cream.

If anyone has had a bad experience with bleaching creams for hyper-pigmentation due to laser please let me know about it. There is no information about the degree of success of bleaching creams and hyper-pigmentation SPECIFICALLY due to laser hair removal.

Question:

If I use TRILUMA (bleaching cream) …

  1. Will that make my skin extremely sensitive to the sun in the sense that I will never EVER be able to suntan again in my life ?

  2. And if I do suntan, will the spots where I use Triluma turn white (or have a lighter color) than the rest of the surrounding skin area and thus get an uneven suntan ?

  3. Or, is it better to put off using Triluma until a year has passed to see if the hyperpigmentation fades away on its own (it´s been 4 months since LHR)?

Its far better to wait. While I cant say as for the cream , most hyperpigmentation does fade all on it’s own. Nightfrost has been noticing a little pigmentation on my own fce noww that the hair is gone.He told me he’s concerned it will be permanent. But i tend to tan in the summer, alot, and get much paler in the winter so it’s hard to sy how much of it might be just shedding skin. In short, give it time and see what happens would be my best advice.

SeanaTG,

Thank you for your swift reply.

I think I will take your advice.

After my unfortunate LHR experience I am scared of using anything that worsen my situation.

Thanks,

I had LHR done ten yrs ago with a LightSheer laser. This laser was not appropriate for my skin type (Fitz. IV or V [im brown skinned]).

I was burned once but it healed without scars or PIH.

However, I was left with some residual hyperpigmentation along my right-side temple area.

This hyperpigmentation is still visible to this day unfortunately. Not horrible but still there.

This summer I underwent LHR again. The results were good during the time I was being treated. But after my third tx, I decided to stop because of the PIH.

I went on Obagi and it has since helped my PIH AND lessened the intensity of the old hyperpigmentation I had from 10 yrs ago.

I don’t think it will ever go away completely. I believe it’s actually ‘dermal hyperpigmentation’ - which cannot be treated with topical creams and medicines.

It requires another type of laser tx (q-switched ruby).

In any case though, the Obagi has had an effect. It’s not going to return that area of my skin to normal, but it’s made it blend in a bit more and I’d recommend it.

I wouldn’t do anything if it hasn’t been at least 1-2 years since the last treatment. Most pigmentation issues resolve on their own.

UPDATE -

The Triluma cream is causing me a bit of a burning sensation.

AND, when I put it in the snail trail, it now appears a bit darker.

For these reasons I think I will stop using Triluma.
