It seems we always find something to ponder about, At least i do.
In a few weeks i will be starting with a full sleeve on my arm. For those who dont know, full sleeve is having your entire arm tattoed, from your shoulder to the wrist. I
ve been waiting for this for 10 years, mostly because of my upper lip hair problem. I didnt want to draw any more attention to myself than it was needed, but now that i resolved that issue, i feel like i am good to go. My problem is the fact that artist WILL shave my arm in order to do decent work. I have very light hairs, and very little, although they are longer, but in a sun they are hardly visible.ABove elbows i don
t have anything but a peach fuzz, and its very sporadic and blonde. Since i never shaved anything on my body (well beside legs and armpits), i am in pain over this. I am worried that hair will change and be coarse, like it did on my legs. I know we talked about changing hair structure by shaving, and it was said it doesn
t change a thing, but when you look at the legs which are shaved for years, it all falls down. Hairs are darker and coarser, than they used to be, before they were shaved. I don`t want to have prickly arms, at all.
So my husband sugested that if something bad happens to my arms, i could always get electrolysis or laser. Thinking about it, laser is out of question, considering ink and all. I am not sure about electrolysis. Would tattoo ink hinder the ability of having electrolysis done? Would it have any impact on visibility whatsoever?
or am i worried too much about having my arm shaved once?
Electrolysis done in the area of a tattoo would not be a problem. Of course, you should not have more hair than you did before.
Shaving: When young women begin shaving their legs, they are going through puberty. Hair is growing in lots of places at that age. The hormones made it grow, not the shaving. If a woman’s hair gets coarser and darker with age, it is from hormones and not shaving. You should have seen my step-grandmother’s legs. She never shaved her legs, yet she wore hose and dresses every single day of her life. As a little kid, I remember seeing that long, dense, coarse hair all squiggled up under her hosiery. She also had lots of facial hair. All that from hormones.
Point of my paragraph? Shaving won’t make a difference, but you will feel prickly until the arm hairs grow out again.
I have treated tattooed areas, and my concern was that the tattoo might fade, but they did not fade. There were no visibility problems working on the tattooed areas.
I second what Barbara said so well!
I have performed electrolysis on tattooed areas as well, a man’s upper arm to be specific, and all went well.

As the others said, it will be absaloutley fine in terms of shaving.
Just as a side note: It is advised against lasering tattoo’s, the reason being the ink will most likely act as pigment, especially colours such as black and blue, thus helping to conduct the laser energy resulting in the skin cells in the epidermis and the dermis being targetted by the laser. Hence why lasers can be used for tattoo removal.
Good luck with your tattoo hun, hope all goes well.
