Transgender Electrolysis Resource List

Expect Changes to this post This list is evolving to include new practitioners as they identify themselves.
Too often, I hear the question " Where can I get electrolysis as a transgender person where I wont get refused? The issue is this isnt such a simple question. While I can easily say “come see me” if someone is near my local city or "You should be able to see anyone " the reality is, that’s not true., Too often transpeople are refused when they try and see their small town electrologist who may have never dealt with such case, or in the case of surgical preparation cases may not feel comfortable . It’s also possible that some electrologists may have physical issues performing GRS work and may not be able to, or that they may limit how many such cases they can take on at one time . I know from experience, that GRS preparation is one of the most difficult services I perform.

My initial thoughts were to to put together a list of practitioners who had self identified as to " I perform those services" and separate that list by location starting with Ontario , so that when someone comes asking “where can I fiind someone in my area” I can say, start with this list first, these professionals have said they offer those services". I had initially thought to do this for Ontario, but very quickly realized that the people I know alone, stretch world wide. I’ve since expanded to indicate where possible if insurance may be applicable. This is not the same for all places.

I’m literally compiling the list today, but there may be some here on hairtell that want to be included. So here’s what we need to know to include you:

  1. The name, and location of your clinic and any other contact information.

  2. Are you currently offering, or willing to offer facial electrolysis on transpeople?

  3. Are you currently performing or offering GRS preparatory services for your clients? If yes is this on Transfeminine or transmasculine clients or both?

  4. Are you inexperienced in, but Willing to provide GRS preparatory services through your practise?

  5. Does your clinic currently have arrangements to work with or perform services covered by some form of medical insurance or health care plan?

In answering these questions, it’s important to keep in mind that not all electrologists listed may be able to perform all services listed at any given point in time. Inclusion is an indication that yes, you do provide those services in a discrimination free environment, but that does not mean that any given electrologist is available at any one point in time. We may have too many GRS cases at one time for example to take on more. Or any practitioner on this list may at any point be all booked up, and not able to take on more clients at that point in time but perhaps could inthe future when business lightens up a bit.
