Too good to be true = done after 3 sessions?

As I mentioned in my other post, I just finished my 4th treatment in a package of 9 treatments. Actually, after my 3rd treatment, I had mostly fine, normal hairs left - not a lot of the black, bothersome hairs. I would say that my regrowth was 95% normal/fine hairs, and the remaining black/coarse hairs were very minimal and sporadic, almost like they just were random missed hairs. I have been reading a lot of info on this site with regard to laser not treating the finer hairs. Is it really possible to be DONE after 3 or 4 treatments? Everything on their site says 6-9 treatments is necessary. I feel like it would be too good to be true to assume that it worked for me in so few sessions, but now I’m really wondering.

Not at all. As I just mentioned in another thread last night. My lower legs were done in 3 treatments, except one patch near the knee, where I had a 4th. Bikini line was done in 3 treatments and there are just some random fine hairs left.

The question is how long did you wait? Should be more than 12weeks, on legs 16 weeks to get some idea of the permanent reduction…

What’s your background? I’ve seen more than a few asian people who are “done” after 3-4 sessions.

Feel free to share what model you used and on what settings

How long did you wait between treatments? Hair grows in cycles. I suspect you haven’t waited long enough for more hair to appear.

If hair is very coarse and dense and spacing is done well and settings/shedding were always good, then 5-6 treatments are usually enough.

Thanks for all the responses. I am going in every 10 weeks. I started in November. They are not having me come in at different times for different areas of the body - everything is 10 weeks. This is with Candela gentlelase. I don’t know what the joules/ settings are. I’m actually really surprised to have such a good result at this early stage continuing how much hair I had. I’m really curious to see what my results look like after this last treatment that I just had the other day. Obviously, I am not shedding yet from that treatment. Has anyone had this experience, where they bought an entire package and only used 1/2 of it? I’m glad to have these results, but can’t help cringing at the amount of $ wasted on perhaps unnecessary treatments - also is it actually counterproductive to continue treatment if I have only fine hairs? Will the laser stimulate growth if I continue lasering but only vellus type hair is left?

If hair is coarse and dense and they’re using good settings on this top of the line machine, your results are normal and typical. I’d give it 12 weeks between treatments starting now. And then wait 6 months to assess true reduction.

9 treatments is a very large package. Given parameters above, 5-6 treatments are needed. I had 5 on underarms and 6 on bikini. Whatever was left was too fine for laser anyway. No point of treating if you only have finer hairs left.

I had a period 12-14 weeks between bikini sessions and 13-16 weeks between leg sessions.

talking about that, is it true that u can wait shorter in the initial process? like first 1-3 threatments. Many clinics claim that and recommend 7-8 weeks for back area.

Prior to my transition i had just two sessions on breast and stomach and reached a state where any further laser treatment would have been uneconomical. (BTW, that was an old Ellipse IPL**2 device at the maximum dosis accessible for non medical operators)

Unfortunately, according to my contract, I have to wait 10 weeks between each treatment. Trust me, I’d push it out further if I could, especially because timing my next appt later on would put me past summertime. Ugh - contracts. Knowing what I know now, I’d do things differently. It is a catch 22 because I am extremely happy w/my results, but am paying a HUGE amount for this package that I expected I’d need - and it turns out I don’t. And it is weird, because everywhere I look online, there seem to be tons of people complaining that their results are terrible after as many as 10+ treatments, or 1-2 full years of treatments with little success. The word on the 'net seems to be that a 9-treament package is a starting point and many people need many subsequent treatments to get good results. When I look around at pricing averages and see what I could have paid if I’d only done 3 or 4 sessions, it almost makes me want to cry. But, on the flip side, I am happy with my results, and that’s the main goal anyway I guess. Thanks everyone for your responses.

Treatment packages are useful only to the vendor. Otherwise there wouldn’t be any such offerings.

There is no advantage of doing more frequent laser treatments. Hair gets more coarse with time and the more coarse the better for results with laser.

What about male arms? Chest?

8-12 weeks. Please see our FAQs at the link below. This is all explained.

My wife had over two years of treatments and now we are going with Electrolsis. We paid over 7K for laser and it looks like we did nothing. She has a few spots that are bare. But she and I wanted her bare all over. The electrolsis should cost less than half of Laser. I am happy for all of you that it worked for. I did and I repeat DID NOT work for her.

Laser works, but only on coarse dark hair. You need that + a competent technician and good laser to get results.

It sounds like you didn’t have good laser treatments. If you go to a bad electrologist, you’ll waste money there as well. It’s all about treating the right type of hair and at good settings. It sounds like that didn’t happen here.

$7K is a ton of money. I would guess this is for a “full body” treatment, which is always a waste of money on pretty much everyone because no one has that much coarse dense hair that laser can actually impact.
