Tombstone Hairs

Hey, When I was younger, I stupidly shaved the top and sides on my nose, now I have these black hair spots (tombstone hairs) (raised hair follicles but they aren’t long, rather look like blackheads unless you look closely and realise they are raised hair blobs which look like the hair has got stuck before blossoming into long hair) all over my nose as well. The last time I shaved my nose was 4 years ago and only some of these hairs have grown long (about 7 millimetres) the rest are stuck as these tombstone hairs. If I go for Electrolysis, will the Electrologist be able to treat these tombstones and lift these out after applying the current?

These are called “Bundelhaar,” (German: bundle of hairs.) These arise from active sebaceous glands, e.g., on the nose. There is so much “sticky” sebum that the shedding hair is held in place; eventually you get a build-up of these shedding hairs that look like a large “blackhead.”

Electrolysis is not indicated, but a good cleaning facial is. There are peel off products that grab the tops of the Bundelhaar and pull them out. Go to an esthetician that understands these “puppies.” Mildly abrasive cleansers will help keep these away. If you can get “micro-dermabrasion” crystals, these work really well. (Actually, if you get the crystals, you don’t need the machine!) See if you can get some from your esthetician. (I have about 5 pounds of the stuff from a defunct medical firm. They work great to clean and “exfoliate” your face.)

Hi, I do no think it is this as I wash my face sever times a day, I believe it is just stubbly hair. If I make my skin taut and run my finger across the top of my nose, I can feel the small bristles.

If that is the case, electrolysis would be great for your problem.
