Before she moved, even further away, a dear friend of mine used to invite me up for C-TG every year. I miss those days.

In twenty years I think I maybe once made a turkey for thanksgiving. None of my patners over the years likes big fancy meals. My mom though used to torture us with these 4-5 hour long meals of doom, complete with the fine china and silverware every year when we were kids. She passed away in 2010 and I’ve recently taken posession of the china set through the estate. This weekend, for the first time in years, I’m doing a turkey. I hope dinner doesnt last 4 hours, but I suspect the dinners of doom will be a tradition I’ll be passing on.

The only one missing, will be my partner Nightfrost. He’s coming out to his folks as being trans. Hope I dont burn the turkey thinking about it.

Must be a Canadian thing. My friend was very informal about the food selection, but it was always a lot of food.

In the US, if you don’t have the 4-5 hour meal of doom, you are just not doing it right.

I’m actually doing it today, because I want to. Turkey is in the oven as we speak and looks gorgeous. I’lll wash up the china in a few minutes. The kids love my gravy, but I dont do it often
