I had laser done in the centre of eyebrow and now hair is quite fine - I decided that I should finish the treatment with electrolysis after reading advice from forum. My theropist which has treated me in past used(blend methord which I think was a sterox machine). Since having first treatment of electrolysis I have been left with tiny brown marks where the needle was inserted, like tiny burn marks. Whilst having the treatment I did not feel any burning sensation at all - wasnt painful either. Does anyone know why this happened? Of course my therapist is concerned and now wont treat me in that area again - she knew I had previousley had laser done there - did the laser make my skin sensitive in that area which is why I have reacted to the electrolysis? I have read that it is always better to have electrolysis after having laser cos the laser stops working once the hairs become quite fine. can someone advise? thanks
Laser didn’t do anything. And yes, laser doesn’t work on fine hair. Plus, you should be getting electrolysis on this area if precision is important. It’s too easy to kill hairs that you don’t want gone with laser. Electrolysis treats hair one by one, so it’s easy to get exactly what you want removed.
We need more info though:
- How long has it been since your treatment?
- Are they brown spots or tiny scabs?
- What is your aftercare routine?
- Have you tried other electrologists? They’re not all the same. You can also use thermolysis which is faster than blend if that’s an option in your area. We recommend trying out 3-4 electrologists to pick one that does the best work.
It sounds like hyperpigmentation, which I have experienced with laser (very minor and faded in a few months) and with DIY electro (blend) on my legs. Are the brown spots hard scabs, or are they just little brown spots?
These brown spots will fade. Some people are prone to hyperpigmentation. After treatements are finished, as I said, it will fade, but I can’t possibly know what the electrologists skill is that is working on you or how she is using her equipment. Skill and equipment used, help to reduce or prevent these temporary marks. I am a fan of proper use of good probes, good computerized epilators and vision wear and top of all, skill in using these products. A good set-up in an electrologist office offers awesome returns for both the electrologist and the clients she/he serves.
I have plenty of clients who are people of color and hyperpigmentaion is not a complaint as we move through several months of treatments. You have to go to whoever is in your community for electrolysis. I am convinced that a lot of temporary skin side effects can be diminshed or none at all with better tools along with human skill in using those tools.
Again, you will be fine. You are not burned. Hunt around and compare treatments. People that know how to use their epilators well, can still give you good care, but to me, it is made all the easier with the newer technology available today.
thank u for your quick response. It had been months from when I last had the laser treatment to when I first had the electrolysis. When I first had electrolysis in the brow it left tiny scabs which healed in about 1 and half week, but once healed I was left with tiny dark marks. I used cooling gel when treatment was first done. I have had electrolysis done on my face and near brow before (a few years ago also by the same therapist) and my skin did not react like this, which is why I thought the laser might have been at fault. I will take your advice and try various therapists though to compare.
scabbed when first had treatment for about 1 week now very tiny brown spots
You have temporary pigmentation after scabs fell off. It will go away. But you should still try someone else if you already had treatments before with no side effects like this. That means that skill of the electrologist can make a difference on your skin.
For now, please buy tea tree oil and use a little at bedtime. It will help them go away faster.
