Time Between Treatments

Hi everyone,

I am a female with a facial hair problem. I’ve had lots of laser hair removal done which helped for a while but it all seemed to come back once I stopped the treatments. So I’m trying electrolysis. So far I’ve had about 3 hours of treatment over 4 sessions, my face being mostly cleared after each. My electrologist recommended 3 weeks between treatments. Does this seem appropriate? I keep reading about people going in every week so I am confused.

Thanks!
Colleen

Welcome to Hairtell Colleen!

Your electrologist is getting you cleared, so every three weeks would be fine, If you see a new group of hair appearing by that time. If it still looks pretty good at three weeks, then you can stretch your next clearance to 4?, 6?, 8? weeks, perhaps?

Weekly sessions are for those that can’t get full clearances in one session OR who need multi sessions close together if they have been tweezing, waxing, threading or sugaring. Those pulled hairs come in fast and furious.

i have a lot of women who see me for electrolysis because laser didn’t quite meet their expectations and in many cases, actually caused more hair to grow.

Dee, best answer I’ve heard all day.

Colleen,

When I’m able to clear a client in a short ( under an hour) session, then I usually will suggest about a 6 week pause before we clear again. this is only so that enough hair can grow in to make it worth coming in for another session. There are two circumsances I wont suggest this, the first is if the hair is truly bothering the client, then I will suggest they come get it removed, to avoid wanting to pluck or wax it. The other time I will not suggest it, is if there is hair growth from some other cause occurring in the meantime, for example hair regrowing after laser has ceased or some hormone issue that is not completely under control yet and is cuasing new hair growth. Most hairs, if they were not successfully killed the first time, will regrow in 8 weeks or so, sp waiting that long between clearances gives a really good sense of what the kill rate is.

The bottom line is, if there is enough hair present to bother you, and it makes a session worth doing, there is nothing wrong with doing it more or less frequently.
