Flash Thermolysis is NOT in any way to be confused with any light based system. It refers to the flash of treatment energy, not any light source.
please check the laser part of this forum for laser information so you are well-informed before you commit to it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Is Flash Thermolysis IPL laser?
Itâs one type of electrolysis. The others are blend and galvanic.
Ok just thought I would post a little update to my whole hair removal experience. Itâs been over a year since I started electrolysis now, January 2005, but I was outo f the country or out of town probably about 5-6 months of that time.
I always go to my electrologist (no changes there) once a week if I can. Lately Iâve been away a lot so Iâm having my face done every 2-2.5 weeks and it goes fine. I canât see anything on my chin at all. Thereâs still a little bit on the brows (which I didnât start until last summer) and the upper lip. The cheeks have ENDLESS fine hairs so nowadays it takes her about 20 minutes to clear up my main areas and then I have her move on the the cheeks or maybe to body.
My body areas (breasts, stomach, underarms, toes) are doing well and just need to be maintained 1-2 times a month or so.
At some point I am going to move on to my arms. So basically my plan is to see her once a week for an hour and work on SOMETHING until Iâm happy with my whole upper body.
I did have my first laser treatment last Tuesday. I know this isnât really the right place to post it but there are a lot of people here who have had laser also (some good, some bad experiences) who might have comments or advice. I have my lower legs done right up to above the knee and an almost full Brazilian bikini. There doesnât seem to be as much hair âgrowing inâ so to speak but it hasnât all âsheddedâ yet. My technician said 2-3 weeks. The treatment was a little uncomfortable in certain areas where there was more hair but I used the LMX and was fine. It was done with a Lightsheer laser but I am not sure on the setting. I had a really minimal reaction as I do with electrolysis. Just some redness, blotchy skin kind of for a day or so on the legs. Anyways, Iâm hoping this goes good (I purchased 6 treatments in each area) and then I can finish up whatever is left with electrolysis if necessary.
I hope everyone is doing well with their treatments, good luck and happy Memorial Day!!
Jessie
Jessie, it would be great if you can start a thread on your laser treatments on the laser part of this forum. It would be helpful to those looking for laser advice there. Can you also mention your skin and hair type, and find out what settings were used if possible? thanks.
Your hair can shed and it doesnât imply those hairs have been permanently removed. What it means is that the fatty connective tissue that anchors the hair has been denatured, that is, deformed, by the lasers heat. So the connective tissue canât do itâs proper job anymore, so the hair falls out. I shedded plenty, but 90% all grew back. Remember, hair canât conduct. Itâs a protein. Laser can get it hot, but laser canât have the efficacy of actually putting a probe down into the follical. Laser is akin to trying to shine a flashlight through a thick piece of paper, whereas an electrolysis flashlight punches through the paper. I wish there were some other scientists here, we could talk about this in a logical manner. And better yet, there are technologies down the road that will super-boost electrolysis. Itâs not that far away.

laser is attracted to dark pigment only. it passes through the âpaperâ youâre talking about and only targets the dark pigment, which is the hair in the light skin, dark hair situation which works with laser.
Sure, Iâll start a post on the laser forum as well about my treatments. So far everything is going okay. Itâs been about 2 weeks now and shedding is ongoing but everything has not fallen out yet. I will also remember to get the settings during my next appointment.
As for my skin type, I will have to take the Fitzpatrick quiz to find out as Iâm not sure but I believe I am a 3. In all the areas treated, bikini and lower legs, the hair was dark (black or dark brown) and relatively coarse. My skin was not tan in either area and hasnât been in the sun for sometime (at least a year). I am half Arabic/Hispanic and half Caucasian. Normally in the sun, I will tan, unless I am out all day and will likely burn and then tan. My hair is brown, my eyes are brown. Hopefully that lends a little more information.
I will start a more detailed thread in the laser forum.

Hi Jessie,
Pls send me your recommendations for Maryland! Especially the one youâve stuck with
Thanks
Itâs been 13 years, I dont think it likely Jesse will respond to such an old thread
Your best bet may be to go the AEA site and see the practitioners they have listed in your area.
