Three Months of Electrolysis

Hello, I have been reading and posting on this forum for awhile and I thought I would go ahead and post a summary of how things are going for me. I have been having electrolysis for just under three months now. I do not take pictures but keep a record of all treatments (date, electrologist, area treated). The areas I have had treated are stomach (about 4 times), breasts (once), underarms (two clearings), and face. On the face I go twice a week for an hour to work on chin, upper lip, between brows, hairline (my hairline used to meet my eyebrows), and occasionally sideburns and cheeks when there is time. There is hair all over my body for the most part. Most of it is fine. On my face it is mostly fine and lighter in color except for between the brows, the chin, and the edges of my upper lip where it is coarse and black. Before electrolysis I plucked my stomach, breasts, upper lip, eyebrows, and chin. The areas I was plucking on my face had to be done every other day. I had developed a very bad ingrown hair problem and there is some scarring from that. My stomach had begun to develop ingrowns as well. I now have NO ingrown hair problem ANYWHERE. My face looks 100% better. At first, after two days after a treatment, my chin looked just as bad as when I first went in. The follicles were very distorted. Now after three or four days, I barely see anything. Even after a week it doesn’t look as bad as it did after two days when I first started. There may be a few hairs by day four but they are pretty much not noticeable. Sometime I clip them though. I have never shaved my face. This last time I had my stomach worked on I would say there was about 25% of what there used to be. I have seen 5 electrologists total (one just for a consult though). I had to switch sometimes because of scheduling. Right now I see one who works on my face and uses fast blend 99% of the time, and one who works on my body (breasts, underarms, stomach) and uses only Flash Thermolysis. She is much faster and after having two treatments I am going to switch to her for everything. I plan on seeing her once a week for two hours, one hour for face and one for body. She does not recommend doing more than an hour on the face. She will have time to do the upper lip, chin, and brow areas and start on the rest of my face (cheeks, sideburns) since she moves so much faster. I really did like my other electrologist though. She is just slower and also farther away from me. Both women have 20+ years experience. I was wary of the one who only used Flash but after being treated by her I am not. She has been using Flash for 10 years. In the past, she had electrolysis done on almost her entire body. My excess hair seems to come from heredity (I’m Arabic and Hispanic) and some anorexia problems from my past (possibly, probably more heredity than anything). The electrolysis is working so I feel like hormones are probably not an issue since my health is completely normal otherwise this. My electrologist said she had similar body hair patterns and didn’t have hormonal problems and she has seen many similar clients who didn’t as well. My skin reacts very well to electrolysis and at this point it’s like nothing has happened to it after a treatment, unless it is extensive. I do use LMX all the time now although I used nothing to begin with. It makes the treatments very comfortable. The only area I find really painful is the underarms. I plan on slowly doing my entire body starting with this one hour a week (I’m saving my arms for last because they don’t really both me). The other areas I want to work on that I haven’t yet are the top of my stomach (VERY fine hair), my lower back (also VERY fine), my butt (I know that’s weird but there is fine hair all over it), my bikini line, and my legs. We’ll see how it goes. Once I start legs I may move to two hours allotted to body instead of one. That is what my electrologist recommended for legs, two hours at a time, she says she usually can get a good amount done on that area in that time. For after treatment I use witch hazel and neosporin, sometimes A+D ointment with zinc. I usually do not wear makeup for 24 hours after a treatment. If I do, it’s probably been about 12 hours at least. One other thing, electrolysis dries out the oil in your pores, my face has cleared up tremendously. I used to also have acne, not severe but some. As far as comparing blend to flash, I seem to scab less in the stomach area with flash, no other areas really scab. Pain is about equal with both being pretty comfortable in most areas for me, except the underarms. I have never had galvanic. Well, that’s my story. I don’t keep pictures but I know my facial hair WELL, trust me, and the improvement has been 100%. I will be deeply invested in electrolysis for probably the next two years, it’s worth it and it works. I’ll try to update this every month or so. I hope this has been useful for some of you. One thing I would like to say also, I have noticed so many people on this board who talk about suicide and depression relating to this subject. I am 27 now and while the excess hair still bothers me, it’s just some hair. It doesn’t change who you are and BELIEVE me, men notice it a lot less than we think. I HATE the problem I have, and I have HATED it since it started. It has made me feel bad about myself, but now I realize it’s just superficial. There is an answer out there to get rid of it forever, but there’s still no reason to be driven to the point of suicide over it. It’s not what’s on the outside that makes us worthwhile human beings. Good luck to everybody!
(By the way, I can give three good recommendations for Maryland/N. Virginia. The two Maryland references are in the Maryland section on this board.)

Just thought I would post a quick update after one month. I started electrolysis January 7th so this is four months.

ELECTROLOGIST: I have seen four total, I have been seeing the same one now for a month and plan to stay with her. She has 20+ years experience and has had electrolysis done on her entire body and did a lot of it herself.

MODALITY: Currently Flash Thermolysis, although I have had Blend and Thermolysis done as well in the past.

PAIN: I use LMX-4 or LMX-5 for every treatment. The underarms and bony parts of my face (near my cheekbones) are the most painful areas for me. Emla does not work for me.

BETWEEN TREATMENTS: I do nothing. At times I clip the hairs. I haven’t plucked any hair at all since I started electrolysis.

AFTER TREATMENTS: My skin looks red, does not swell, for one hour. After an hour, I look like nothing happened to me. I use witch hazel and neosporin cream twice a day for several days after a treatment.

SKIN CONDITION: EXCELLENT! After a few months of Blend treatments I had some hyperpigmentation on my upper lip and chin. After steadily applying neosporin cream every night, it is starting to fade. This could be caused by Blend since it leaves chemicals in the pores or it might just have been my own skin’s reaction to Blend. I used to have acne, it got better after I started electrolysis but I still had a little until I switched to Flash Thermolysis. I now have none. I also now have no ingrown hairs which had become a terrible problem before electrolysis.

TREATMENT TIMES: At least two separate one hour treatments a week for my face. During each, we concentrate on my chin, upper lip, and brows (between them and my hairline) and then spend some time on my cheeks and sideburns. Whenever necessary, I schedule another hour to work on my underarms, breasts, and stomach.

BEFORE ELECTROLYSIS: I used to pluck my chin, upper lip, and eyebrows every other day. I did that for probably around 7-8 years. I used to pluck the hairs on my stomach and breast also although they grew in much slower.

AREAS TREATED --------------------------------------------

BREASTS - One treatment, there is not much hair here. Very few coarse hairs and some very fine, blonde, short ones. I have also had some sporadic hairs on my chest treated. As they pop up, I ask her to grab them. I probably will schedule some time to work on them next week.

UNDERARMS - Two treatments. The first time is took a little more than 2 hours to clear them, the second time a little more than an hour. I have an appointment this Monday to get them worked on. I usually wait 4-8 weeks between treatments for this area.

STOMACH - Four treatments, shows a lot of improvement. I usually wait 4 weeks between treatments. I had been plucking this area for years so there were some ingrown hairs and that problem is gone. There is less and less hair each four weeks and a lot of it has thinned out and isn’t so coarse.

CHIN - For four months, my chin has been treated at least twice a week, three times a week for the first couple of weeks. At first, it took an hour to get it cleared or almost cleared. Now it takes about 5 minutes. In the beginning I was using Blend though and now I’m using Flash. It looks a LOT better. Most of the hair in this area was coarse and black, it is thinner and lighter now as it grows in.

UPPER LIP - I started working on my upper lip the same time as my chin although it didn’t get as much attention at first. It’s looking very good now. Most of the hair on my upper lip is finer and brown rather than black, the edges do have blacker coarser hairs though.

EYEBROWS - I started on them in mid-January. I have her get the area between them and above them (my hairline). In between the brows is some coarse and black hair but above near the hairline is all finer brown hair.

CHEEKS and SIDEBURNS - I just started really concentrating on this area since I started seeing my current electrologist about a month ago. She gets a tremendous amount done in one hour only. The hair in this area is very fine and mostly light in color. I never plucked or waxed this area in the past because it isn’t that noticeable.

LEGS: I’ve had a little work done on my legs. I had my left lower leg worked on for an hour a month or so ago. Over half of it was cleared.

MY PLAN -------------------------------------------------

This year I plan to focus on my upper body. Face, breasts, underarms, stomach. At some point I want to thin out my arms and also get some of the very fine light hair on my lower back. I can’t see it but I can feel it. Next year (or this year if I get all these areas really under control) I plan to focus on my legs and bikini line. I am committed to two hours a week on my face and upkeep of the other areas as needed. If I finally can start slowing down on my face to one hour a week or something like that, I plan to move onto other areas before next year.

P.S. This last week I had to wait a full week between treatments bcs I went out of town. Although I didn’t care for the way I looked, it was certainly bearable. I just took a tiny little razor and touched up my chin (maybe 20 hairs total) and the edges of my upper lip. It was kind of like clipping rather than shaving bcs of the type of razor I used, it didn’t cut right to the skin. When I first started electrolysis this wouldn’t have been possible. At first I would have a treatment and two days later look like I had when I started. All the hair on my chin was COARSE AND BLACK, now it is lighter (more brown) and thinner. Electrolysis works!!!

Good luck to everybody!!

amazing review of your experience. thank you.

i noticed you go several weeks without treatment for areas on your body. how is that possible? i was thinking of doing my brest nipples, but after how long i am seeing it take my chin. i figured i dont want to go through the time and money if my nipples are as bad as my chin. although there isnt as much hair and i havnt been plucking them like i did my chin. but my main issue really is that i am shy to start my nipples.

but yeah, when you say you go 3-4 weeks on your underarms etc. is it because the hairs grow in slower? or do you like to give the area room to heal? or maybe the hairs in your underarm and other areas are not as thick and black as your face? for me, my underarms are very thick and black hairs.

ok thanks again. plz continue to post your experiencee!

Thanks, Jesse. This post is an excellent example of someone who agressively and with committed purpose, takes action to end a problem. There is nothing like having a plan and sticking to it.

You accomplish two things when you take charge of your hair problem:

 1. If you were depressed and full of despair before treatment, hope and happiness returns as you gradually see something actually happening to solve the problem.

 2. Physically speaking, the hair is permanently destroyed and you look great.

I’m impressed, first, with the fact that you started this hair removal thing by correctly visiting four different electrologists in order to compare and then settle on the one that worked best for you. You will get where you want to be because you have visualized and willed this to happen. Secondly, you are on an aggressive schedule for all you want done. If most clients would go fast and furious at first, they would realize the end much sooner.

We appreciate your thorough update and look forward to more.

Dee

Thanks for these EXCELLENT first-hand reports, Jesse! This is what really heps others decide on their own course of action!

Andrea

Thanks, guys. This site really helped me so I want to post my experience so people who were in my situation will realize that there is something out there to end the ridiculous shaving and tweezing and general misery! I am 27 so by now I am old enough to realize that this problem is not the end of the world but am sooooo glad that there is something out there to get rid of it. Before I found this site, I knew almost nothing about electrologist and was considering laser only.

As far as why I wait so long on my body, the hair grows in MUCH slower than it does on my face. The hair on my underarms for instance is very black and pretty coarse. They do hurt me really bad after a treatment for a couple of days. Just a really sensitive area for me. But generally the reason I wait is because I am trying to get enough hair to grow back to justify a treatment. Same with my breasts and stomach. Out of those three areas, my breasts have the least hair on them. There are mostly a few spare coarse black ones and then some really short blonde ones that I don’t even notice unless I’m under my electrologists’ lights. My stomach is really winding down also. A month just seems to work for me bcs right now no one is seeing the areas so I’m also not in a rush. I asked my current electrologist if she thought that was a good schedule and she said yes so I stuck with it.

As far as having your breasts done, I know it’s hard I was shy about it also. The three previous electrologists I had seen, I never even asked. But this one, I know had the same area done. So one day I just worked up the courage and asked her if she did work on breasts, she said yes and we got started. It is embarrassing though I know. You would be surprised at how many people have that area worked on though. My electrologist always tells me that almost all her clients are like me, working on multiple areas on their body. Also, on my face even though the hair is not that noticeable bcs a lot of it is blonde, it starts right under my eyes! She told me she has seen women with it right up to their eyelashes and that I wasn’t alone. So don’t feel bad about yourself ladies!

thanks so much jessie, i think i will try to muster up some more courage to FINALLY get working on my nipples. your stories seems to fit mine and it gives me hope. keep posting!

Just wanted to say that today I had my underarms worked on. I always do two one hour sessions on my face a week and today I scheduled another hour for my underarms. It’s been 6 weeks and it took close to 40 minutes to clear my right one. Because we spent a little more than an hour on my face, we barely had time to start the left (there was less hair on the left underarm though, very patchy). I HATE getting my underarms done, it is like torture for me, sooooo painful. I have some hairs on my breastbone removed, no problem, without any lmx. Upper lip, no problem with lmx. Underarm, horribly painful with tons of LMX and advil. So my electrologist told me instead of waiting 4-6 weeks it would probably be better to get the underarms touched up every 2 weeks if there was hair. That way, it’s easier to treat and takes less time (since I hate it so much). So from now on, I plan to start doing that instead of the 4-6 week sched I was on for underarms. Just FYI if anyone else is in the same situation.

Try using some ice before treatment this has helped some of my clients who have underarm work. Good luck to you.

hey i am 19 yrs old and i think in the same boat as you.i need to work on the breast area n stomach and and back.what should i do? can u help me? i live in virginia.d o u konw how i could get started? how much does it cost? any idea?please help me.i m in desperate need…i m getting engaged soon and i need to do it before that…before i get married…cos i think i wont be able to get married if i still am so hairy.please help me.thank you.

I would bet you a lot of money that your to-be fiance would marry you despite your unwanted hair problem. We always magnify our problems when the people that love us don’t even notice that there is a problem. Wanting to prepare yourself for this special time in your life is important for you. Among some of the reasons I hear for wanting hair removed from the abdomen and breast areas especially, are just what you are saying, as well as, wanting to prepare for pregnancy. Some of my clients are too embarrassed to become pregnant because they don’t want the doctor or hospital personal seeing the hair all over their abdomen and other places.

Locate electrologists in your area by doing an internet search and look in the yellow pages. Call several and get consults with sample treatments. Of course you will want to do all the reading you can on hairfacts and hairtell so you know what is a desirable standard of electrolysis treatment.

Go for it and don’t look back. You’re young and will enjoy your new smooth skin for a long time.

Hi Everyone,
I’m so thankful that there is a site like this one…
I am also 27 and I started laser hair removal a year ago. My underarms and bikini area look great (but I know I will have to go back cause its not permanent hair removal but reduction). They lasered my face and areolas and those two areas are much worse. I resort to waxing/plucking now (i posted this subject earlier).

I could consider electrolysis but I’m worried about the expenses. I have spend close to $2000 with lasering. Im a student and I would have to use my loan money for this.

Also, how many times a month would you have to go? How much $$ should I look at now?

Again, thank you for these posts. Its so reassuring to know there are people out there with the same problems as me! The thought of intimacy really makes me sad cause it can’t be spontaneous…i’d have to carry a tweezer around all the time!

I am in northern virginia and can give you 3 references to electrologists there. what part of virginia are you in?

I would need to see your face to comment on that, but your breast work would not cost you more than $60 the first time, and maybe $30 once every 6 weeks in the beginning, and perhaps only $20 soon thereafter.

You could have total permanent hair removal for a total of $100 - $200 spread out over a year.

Update time! It’s been 5 months now since I started electrolysis on January 7th…

ELECTROLOGIST: I have not changed electrologists since the last update. I thought I would add though that she uses an Apilus Senior Machine, Halogen lights (I think), and what look to be magnifying glasses. They’re not glasses so to speak just two pieces of glass which stick out off this little thing that sits on her nose.

MODALITY: Still Flash Thermolysis and I don’t plan on ever switching. My skin has never looked better.

PAIN: I still use LMX-4 or LMX-5 for every treatment. The underarms and bony parts of my face (near my eyes and my forehead) are the most painful areas for me. My electrologist can order the LMX for me at cost and it saves me about $20 a tube.

BETWEEN TREATMENTS: I do nothing. I used to clip or maybe kind of shave but now I do absolutely nothing at all, don’t need to.

AFTER TREATMENTS: My skin looks red, does not swell, for only about 30 minutes now and then I look like nothing happened to me. I use witch hazel and neosporin cream twice a day for several days after a treatment.

SKIN CONDITION: Still improving every day. There remains no acne and no ingrown hairs. The hyperpigmentation on my upper lip is there but the brown spots on my upper lip from previous Blend treatments are fading slowly. I think the hyperpigmentation is something common for people with my skin tone (olive skin). I don’t want to try anything like dermabrasion until I am pretty much done with electrolysis. I’m sure when my treatments slow down all this will fade a lot quicker.

TREATMENT TIMES: At least two one hour treatments a week. During each, she works on my chin, upper lip, brows (between under, and above them), cheeks, sideburns and under my chin. Now instead of making a separate appointment for body, I split my weekly treatments. So sometimes I do 45 mins on face and 15 on an underarms or something like that.

BREASTS - Now two treatments total, the second one was last week for 30 mins. There are only a few black hairs but there are a lot of little short ones that I only saw when I was under her lights. I still have her grab a few hairs when they pop on my chest. It takes like 2 minutes and I don’t numb the area or anything. I use LMX on the breasts and I find it to be almost painless.

UNDERARMS - I think they have now been cleared four times total. Because they hurt so bad, I now have her work on them pretty much whenever hair pops up whether there’s just a little or not. That way I don’t have to suffer too long. When there is hair there, I just ask her to save the last 15 mins or so of the appointment to work on them.

STOMACH - I think I have actually had six treatments on my stomach. It is showing a LOT of improvement. There is less and less of the course dark hairs growing back that were under my belly button. There is softer lighter shorter hair in the area though that she is slowly thinning out.

CHIN - My chin was what I started with but now there is less and less there. What does grow back is usually so thin and light that I don’t even notice it, therefore I don’t shave it or clip it. Now it will probably take a full week before I see any really noticeable hairs. She starts with that area and in less than 5 minutes she is moving on to another area.

UPPER LIP - There are almost no black or coarse hairs growing in this area anymore. There are still some short fine light brown hairs though. She is focusing a lot on this area (with my cheeks and sideburns) since all the other areas on my face and looking pretty good.

EYEBROWS - The area in between my eyebrows almost never grows in a black hair these days. It looks GREAT. She is also doing above them and below them and those areas are coming along nicely. The areas above them (my forehead) hurts like he11 though.

CHEEKS and SIDEBURNS - This and my upper lip are the areas that really need focusing on still. They don’t look bad, I feel perfectly comfortable without shaving or clipping since the hair is lighter. There is still some brown hairs though that she is going after. Now that the chin and eyebrows are growing less hair slower, these areas along with the lip can really get hit hard.

LEGS: I haven’t had any work on my legs in the last month.

I had an appointment today and it was a full hour on my face, lately we split it up 75% face and 25% another body part. I won’t be able to go back until next Tuesday because I will be out of town so we’ll see how that goes!

Although it is a really slow process, I see improvement constantly. Not only in my skin condition but in the amount of hair growth and the hair itself. Good luck to everybody, I hope you all have the same success!

Well I have finally reached my six month anniversary for electolysis, I can really see some great results. The time has flown. Once you get past that stage where you look so terrible between treatments, it’s a breeze. During this past month I actually waited a full week and a half between treatments. It wasn’t too bad. I looked okay but I did take a little razor to my chin, the edges of my upper lip, and some areas around my eyebrows. As Sav said, once you’re doing something about it, it doesn’t bother you as much to go out in public with a little facial hair.

I will be out of the country for two months starting this Monday. That will give my bank account and my skin a break. I’m sorry to be taking a break in the electrolysis bcs I want to be really constant with it but I think it’s a good thing in a way. As soon as I come back, I will get right back on schedule and start on legs and bikini also! Tonight I had my stomach and underarms cleared and on Sunday I will get an hour on the face to have me as ready as can be before I leave. So here is my monthly update!

ELECTROLOGIST: I have not changed electrologists since the last update and I am still more than happy with her. Since cost has been brought up several times lately on the board I thought I would add that she charges $70/hour. I tip her $5 every treatment which I know isn’t much but at least it’s something.

MODALITY: Still Flash Thermolysis.

PAIN: Steadily increasing over time. I think Sav pointed this out before. It starts out totally bearable and slowly gets worse and worse! I still use LMX-4 or LMX-5 for every treatment. The underarms are still the MOST painful areas for me.

BETWEEN TREATMENTS: Recently I waited a week and a half between treatments, the longest time since I started. I used these little eyebrow razors and just caught a few hairs here and there that were bothering me. That is all I do though, no plucking or waxing for sure! While I’m gone these next two months I plan to shave with those little razors and maybe bleach.

AFTER TREATMENTS: (NO CHANGE) My skin looks red, does not swell, for only about 30 minutes now and then I look like nothing happened to me. I use witch hazel and neosporin cream twice a day for several days after a treatment.

SKIN CONDITION: Awesome! There remains no acne and no ingrown hairs. The hyperpigmentation on my upper lip is there but the brown spots on my upper lip from previous Blend treatments are fading slowly. Since I have been waiting a little bit longer between treatments now, I started using a microdermabrasion kit 2-3 times a week.

TREATMENT TIMES: My electrologist has now pointed out that I should not keep coming in for two 1 hour treatments a week on my face. She says what is on my face now is pretty natural and she doesn’t feel I should go any further with it and should maybe slow down to an hour a week. Since I will be gone so long it doesn’t really matter for now. When I get back I will probably start back up with 2 one hour treatments a week until I’m back in a good place.

BEFORE ELECTROLYSIS: (NO CHANGE) I used to pluck my chin, upper lip, and eyebrows every other day. I did that for probably around 7-8 years. I used to pluck the hairs on my stomach and breasts also although they grew in much slower.

AREAS TREATED --------------------------------------------

BREASTS - I have had one more treatment since my last update which brings it to about 3 total I think. There isn’t much hair here and what is there grows slowly so it requires the least maintenance of all the areas I’m working on.

UNDERARMS - I just had both underarms cleared tonight which is the only treatment I’ve had on them since my last update so that might be about 5 times total. The VERY FIRST treatment on them took about 2 hours and 15 minutes to clear them. Tonight it took her about 45 minutes. What was there was pretty sparse and light anyways so I wasn’t even really shaving it.

STOMACH - My stomach seems to be the easiest place for me to see improvement. Since my last update I have had two short treatments on it. Now instead of there being a line of black thick hair, there are maybe 5-7 hairs that pop up. I think this brings it to 8 treatments on this area.

CHIN - My chin is still looking pretty good and it still takes her only about 3-5 minutes to get done with it. This is the area that bothers me most between treatments if I wait a week or more so I just take a little razor and shave what I can see. Regardless of what little grows in between treatments, I see a MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT.

UPPER LIP - What grows in here that bothers me when I wait a long time between treatments is just at the edges of the upper lip. There are still some dark hairs popping up there that are slowly thinning out and getting lighter. Still a tremendous improvement from when I started.

EYEBROWS - My eyebrows are coming along great. The middle cleared out really quick and stays pretty decent looking even if I wait a week or so between treating it. The forhead and are beneath the eyebrows are looking pretty good also and are easy to maintain.

CHEEKS and SIDEBURNS - Still really focusing on these areas along with the upper lip. I didn’t really start on this area hard until around March. That was when I moved to a faster electrologist and also at that point my major areas were under control and so I could focus on other things.

LEGS & BIKINI: I plan on starting on these areas around mid-September.

CHEST: Chest and sternum get a little every now and then. Some spare hairs pop up on my chest and I just ask her to grab them. I don’t numb the area bcs I find it painless. She usually will do some sternum when she is working on my chest or breasts. What is there is really light and there isn’t much though.

Well, I won’t be posting here for another two months or so. I don’t think there is any electrolysis where I am going but if there is I am going to look into it! Everybody take care and best of luck!

Thank You for your posts

See, I told you the Breast work would be a breeze. If there is a person out there whose only problem is breast hair, you can now tell them, if you were only going for that, you would not have spent any great deal of money, or even any great amount of time and it is a more comfortable place to work than you expected. You should spend more time driving to and from your appointment than the time needed to clear them out and keep them clear.

Where ever you are going, please do check out the local talent, and report back to us here. We always need help in answering the question “Who is good in my area of the world?”

Electrolysis, still the permanent hair removal champion 145 years and counting.

i have now gone almost a full four weeks without one treatment! this saturday will make four weeks and so i have looked for an electrologist here (i am outside the u.s.). as a hint, if you are in a spanish speaking country, look for “depilacion permanente” and not electrolysis.

as for the areas i have been having treated (6 months consecutively before i left the country), my stomach still looks pretty good. there is only one really dark hair and a couple lighter ones. my underarms have probably 1/3 of what they had when i started and it is lighter and thinner. my breasts just have a few here and there. they seem like an easy area to get rid of. as for my face, the sideburns still look ok. i have been shaving some areas with these little razors meant for the eyebrows. i have been shaving just the chin, the edges of the upper lip, and between and under my eyebrows. there is much less than before i started electrolysis but it still needs to be shaved or something.

as for the place here, they seem to do no more than 30 minutes bcs they said most people can’t tolerate more. i’m not sure what kind of machine or method they use but we’ll see. i’m pretty sure that even with blend my chin and the edges of my lip could get done in 30 mins. but if it’s galvanic, then who knows bcs i have never had galvanic. if this place is ok, i’m going to start going each week to try and maintain these important areas. these are the areas i used to pluck so they are the worst as far as they are taking forever to get rid of.

take it easy everybody and good luck!
jessie

what method do you guys think is best for the around the nipple area if the hairs that are most annoying are black, sparse and coarse, but there are others that are dark, but very fine and noticeable only in certain light? I am getting blend done right now because when the electrologist tried thermolysis, the coarse hair wouldn’t come out…

Since it’s not a dense amount of hair or a large area, I guess any method is good…whatever your electro works best at. I just started flash thermolysis in this area and despite what James and others have posted here about it feeling “so comfortable,” I don’t find it comfortable at all (although upper lip under the nose is way worse). Even with a numbing cream.

The coarse hairs came out the best at a higher setting, but I couldn’t tolerate that very well. So we worked at the very last edge of my comfort (discomfort, really) and they still came out but “not as well” according to the electro…whatever that means. (It doesn’t feel like tweezing.) Is it working for you with blend? Maybe i will suggest that…
