If i wanted to thin out an area of hair with electrolysis, should I ask my electrologist to remove all the hair, get complete clearance, then let the hair grow back thinner? Or is it better if we just thin out the hair, by removing couple hairs from random areas over a couple treatments? The area that Im concerned about is my left sideburn , I have alot of hair that just falls of , Im not sure how to explain it. anyway here’s a picture Of an ideal female sideburn! lol …
see the hair that falls next to her ear, Mine is like that too, but dense, and with thicker hair. How can I make my sideburns grow thinner, and more feminine like hers??
Don’t rely on getting a complete clearance just so the hair grows back thinner. I have found that in this area, one proper zap will make the hair come back NO MORE, as in the term PERMANENT HAIR REMOVAL. I would selectively thin the hair out, which is the strength of good electrolysis care. That’s how I would approach it.
Take a picture to your electrologist and ask her to tape it in her view, so she can glance at it as she works so she is constantly reminded of the look you want.
Dfahey do you think it would be alittle weird taking a picture? To be honest i’m really embrassed to do that.
You have to do what is comfortable for you, but you will have to rely on your words to describe what you want. If you like a particular hairstyle, do you hesitate to take a picture to show your hair stylist? I guess I don’t understand what is so embarrassing about sideburns, but if that is how you feel then there are other ways to communicate.

Roma, don’t be embarrassed to try and reach your goal by showing a picture. As Dee said, women take pics to their hair stylist all the time and say, “Make me look like that!” Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words, and will probably make it easier for the treater to get you what you want. Read some more posts on here, you are NOT alone in having unwanted hair, nor feeling uncomfortable about it. Doesn’t make your feelings wrong, just more common than most think.
Yeah, what they said. Besides, this is an electrologist! Surely she’s seen people about as hairy as you before, right? This ought to be the one place where you can relax about the hair, even joke about it (apart from hairtell, of course).
Also, electrolysis is quite a visual process, just like hairstyling. Which would be why what F6Hawk and dfahey are saying makes sense.
