thickening of hairs after thermolysis

Hi everyone

Im having traditional slow thermolysis (not fast with the new modes) done on my body hair (shoulders/back etc) and it seems to be going quite good but a few/some hairs are growing back in extra thick at first i thought it was just me but then my electrolgist noticed it too. Just wondering if other electrolgists here have noticed this on some clients also? Or am i a freak of nature hehe. Any thoughts?

How long have you been having electrolysis for ? Did you wax or tweeze before starting? What age are you? Are hairs ever being tweezed out? The answers to these questions may have a impact on your hair growth.
You will get permanent results if you have a skilled practitioner though will take longer with thermolysis, 2-3 years. Could it be that you are making good progress getting rid of the finer hairs so all that you are
noticing are the stronger hairs that are still regrowing??
With most traditional thermolysis it is a gradual process.

Thanks for the reply.

Ive had quite a few sessions over the years, but im really committed now and have had about 6 sessions with the thermolysis. Im just concentrating on at least thinning the areas so not getting more than one pass on each area until i cover the problems areas at least once (which is quite large). But only one pass seems to be making a noticable thinning which is great. I dont tweeze only shave occasionally. age is 32 male. hairs are removed with no tweezing i never feel any pull which is great. I have a feeling the thicker hair are just what you say, the ones that have missed treatment. post healing is scabs on the treatment site and some swelling but goes done in a few days and scabs are gone after a few weeks.

What do you mean by extra thick? Thicker than the original? That shouldn’t happen. It can look thicker in diameter if the hair is missing the tapered tip, as if the shaft was broken under the skin and is now coming back out. Are you seeing thick black dots? That could be when the tapered part of the hair is too weak to poke through the skin yet and gets curled up, forming a black dot. It will come out soon, or your electrologist can release the tip with a tweezer and treat the hair. It’s hard to visualize what you are seeing based on your description.

Swelling for a few days and scabbing for a few weeks isn’t the reaction that we’re used to, but at least, you sound like you are getting effective treatment, and that’s the most important aspect.
