There has to be a good electrolysist in the uk??

hi all,

ive been having electrolyis on my upper arm with diathermy,1hr a week. Ive had 16 hours so far and not even had 1st clearance.

ive been trying to find a good electrolysis that will do 4 hours a week to speed things up but the electrolysist i see will only do an hr a week,i have tried another one and they can only do an hour a week.

I did however find someone who would do 3hours a week, but she badly burnt me (over treated) and her clinic was not very clean etc. all are from biae.

can anyone recommend anyone who is good and will spend more time with me as this problem is causing me a lot of distress.
most of the good electrolysists on here are out of the uk,surely there must be someone in the uk rather than travelling abroad.

Part of the problem is that very few electrologists do electrolysis only. They offer other services such as waxing and other beauty treatments to ensure they have a lot of clients…

Very true for me as well. These same people do Laser more often. Personally I haven’t seen an electrologist-only, and those are the kind of proffesionals you should be getting treated by.

I feel that there is not much investment in this field, even by practitioners themselves. Good lighting and magnification would be a bonus - never mind about top of the range epilators.

If you are close to Scotland, I recomend Mairi at Argyll Electrolysis. She even has an apilus platinum.

mairi sounds fantastic but shes 7hrs away :frowning:

now you see why people are travelling abroad!

where do you go for electrolysis stopit?

I’ve got to ask. When you say she burnt you what reaction did you have that made you say you have been burnt?

When i had the treatment done i could tell that the current was very high.I told her that i had sensitive skin and whether to lower the current and she said it was best to have it high as its kills the hairs better.

its been 4 weeks since having it done and i still have large scabs and marks, the blisters spots have gone.

lesson learned to always have a test patch done first as i know ill get scars in this area.

Hi, I had my 27 hours done at Parkside Beauty Center in Islington, London. However, I decided it was not cost effective and I will be having the rest of my electrolysis with one of the electrologists who posts here (depilacionelectr). My sister already started her treatment with her.

It was otherwise fine though. They have 4 BIAE registered electrologists working there.

i did phone parkside, but its 2hr and 30mins journey. im from the midlands. Its difficult getting a good electrolyist,i dont mind travelling but not too far.

someone recommended sara but again shes a distance and whether she does block booking like parkside as per hour can really add up.

also whats the difference from apilus platinum and diathermy?

Diathermy (thermolysis) is a method of electrolysis that uses an alternating current to generate heat in the follicle.

Apilus Platinum just an epilator with many different modes, including modes of thermolysis.

so apilus is better than the stardard diathermy?

thanks for explaining

How do You define better and which Apilus device are You talking about?

BTW: AFIK all Apilus machines can operate in the mode You call “Standard Diathermy”. But most of them have more evolved epliation modes which allow You to do fast and efficient treatmens with slightly less pain and slightly less side effects.

Although i have also been massively overtreated with “fast thermolysis” and thus have been afraid of the method for years i must concede that even with simple manual thermolysis devices the right hands can do great jobs.

It’s all about the electrologist in my opinion. The new tech can allow for all the things beate mentions above.
