The machine is broken...

…! That’s what I was told when I went in for my 4th treatment on my underarms so the woman instead did a patch test on me using the Alma machine which is a Soprano laser and said that we will be continuing my laser treatment with this.

I wasn’t happy as I am used to the machine she was using before (HP Synchro - I believe it’s a YAG) and I just don’t know if it is a)good to switch machines during treatment b)if the Soprano would even be effective.

She was surprised when I said I want to wait until the other machine is fixed (4 weeks) and said that the Soprano machine is better.

Is she fobbing me off or would I genuinely be ok going onto the Soprano machine?

Any advice appreciated.

Synchro is a Yag and the Soprano is a Diode. For your underarms, if your skin tone is condusive, a diode would give you better results.

Soprano has really bad feedback on these forums. Have you used it or seen results from it, Chris?

My posting makes a choice among the two options available to the person who is treating the underarms. Out of the two, the Soprano would give BETTER RESULTS on the underarms. And, YES, I have used both machines before.

I’m pretty sure most of the bad feedback about the Soprano is due to the fact that clinics don’t seem to know how to use it properly.

Thank you for your replies. I am just a bit stuck now as to what to do - should I hold out for the other machine to hopefully be repaired or go ahead with the Soprano machine? The Soprano is a new laser they’ve only recently started advertising in the clinic so I’m not sure how much training the woman has had with it.

Soprano is a piece of junk, waste of money and doesn’t work. If treated properly it should be better than the Yag though but Soprano isn’t a good machine.

You could work with them and say that you’ll try it, but that you would want a free re-treatment if your hair doesn’t shed.
