The cause of scabbing

Hi Professionals.
I have a trans woman client that came to me recently and said that she used to get little scabs from her old electrologist but doesnt get them from me.

I use a blend of galvanic and thermolysis to do her face and she lye’s up very well.

Why would some one get scabs from electrolysis ? Could it be from thermolysis only, too high and it burns the skin or something ?
Many thanks Maddy

Yes, it can be from too high of energy levels or shallow insertions. All three modalities can cause scabbing if there is too much energy for too long a time being used in a follicle. Make perfect insertions and observe the skin reaction. Make adjustments if you see blanching or any signs that the skin looks “angry”.

Thanks Deedra , I thought it could be possible from to much thermolysis but i didn’t know having the galvanic too high could do the same,
I will be careful with her and thank you for your advice.
I appreciate you .

You can get little pinpoint scabs from electrolysis and it is normal. It is a healing process. We are giving current to damage the follicule at the end. Some people may not get it if they have oily skin but most people gets them especially on the body. It would be misleading people thinking that they should not get it. By the way I only do thermolysis.

Thank you Fatoserdem

All forms of energy available to the electrologist can cause scabbing. When electrolysis is performed properly scabbing does not usually occur on the face, but pinpoint scabbing is more common on the body and extremities which is normal. Excessive scabbing on the face is an indicator of overtreatment (too much energy) applied to the follicle in the form of intensity that is too high, timing too long, insertion too shallow, energy in the wrong location, or using a probe that does not properly fit the follicle.

Thank you Hairadicator

I only see tiny scabs on the face when the client has dry skin and a lot of ingrown hairs (I’m rf only)
