The Case of the Perpetual Pepperspots

I had my lower legs done in 2009-2011. Eight sessions were a diode-comet machine, 9th one was with an Alex. I had really coarse hair and pale skin so it responded well. But but but! I feel like the pepperspots are still always there. They’re not as bad as in my earlier treatments, of course but it’s still very ugly in the daylight (contrasted against my very pale skin). It’s been 13 weeks since my last treatment and they’re still there. I’ve tried scrubbing with a loofah but they’re just there.

My question is, if I continue to treat this area on a low-setting of Alex maybe, will it get rid of the pepperspots? I found a really nice hospital with extremely reasonable Alex rates so I’m more than willing to spend the necessary money IF it guarantees the removal of these suckers. I kind of remember my armpits being this way before they cleared. But there were stray coarse hairs there so I continued treating. My lower legs, on the other hand, are already perfect if not for these pepperspots.

So, should I continue treatments until they’re clear? Are there any ideal low Alex settings just for pepperspot-clearing?

In many cases, some hairs are only weakened by laser such that they become very fine and not visually noticeable, but still palpable to touch. This can be inevitable when areas of coarse, dense hair have a small amount of fine hair interspersed. It can also occur when low settings are used.

Low settings don’t solve anything, and are never a good idea. Wait a few more months, because you can’t judge anything until at least 6 months to a year after your last treatment. At that point, you’ll need electrolysis and a practitioner with good magnification for any remaining fine hair.

If you get another treatment, it should burn off most of them. 13 weeks is actually not that long for legs. New cycle of growth may not fully come in until 16 weeks. So they will fall out on their own still too, in another month or two.
