That Deaf guy's electrolysis journal

Soo… taking a flying leap into electrolysis.

First a little background- about 20ish years ago I had electrolysis with Lucy Peters (okay a sattelite office) because I had hair in the middle of my “under chin” area and nowhere else. Zap Zap.
10 years later my beard did grow in finally- only to have a little bald spot- so if I tried to grow the beard out- you’d see it.
Fast forward to 2011 to present. I had considered hair replacement-- there is a doctor in FL (or was NY?) who said he could fill it in…takes about 300 hairs to do so. Unfortunately becaus I made the mistake of showing him my bald spot on the TOP of my head… they insisted on a 10,000 flat rate for both the beard & head. They wouldn’t do just the beard. Ok well…drop kick that idea to the bin.

Meanwhile I started investigating a bit more- and also found this forum. I had 2 consults with laser people here in town (columbia SC). One I liked- she even knocked off 100$ because my back really is rather sparse. There absolutely nothing between just below the shoulder and above the waist. The other I did not like at all. She did a good job of explaining stuff.. did a test patch behind both ears. I found that baffling because I wanna see it! hard to see the back of your head... Office was SMALL and she push her service QUITE heavily (electro and waxing)

This week I met up with an electrolycist to do the under chin area. Took about 4-6 hours total spread over 3 days and some 3,000+ hairs removed (wow…)

So my travels through electrolysis land begins again.
Some thoughts (sorry no pics- I am having a hard time getting a pic because I can’t see what I m doing- maybe another day.

Some observations:

  1. Despite a fals start on Tuesday, we did get our acts together. The E-Person (too lazy to remember how to spell it all the time.) was more than willing still to help- which I thought was wonderful.
  2. The pain level- not that bad at all- only the momentary zap. Boy howdy- I noticed my skin was more sensitive the further to the sides and down on my neck. Middle was a cake walk- probably due to MANY years of plucking back in the 80s & 90s. No plucking since.
  3. the pain after… was practically zilch. This is completely different from the last time I had this done. yeesh… it hurt for DAYS.
  4. I did get some scabbies- but then my right side of the body is always a rebellious 2 year old child when it comes to healing and such stuff invading lol
  5. Bonus was getting the lone hair on my ear lobe zapped lmao.
If I think of more…will post. Just a great great experience (aside from the zap…zap…zap. I think some of the hairs were being buttheads too.

All in all I had a great experience. They explained everything, was funny and just plain nice.
I am still swollen- oddly nobody has noticed- or if they didn’t they ain’t saying anything!! If they do ask… “oh I had a bad allergic reaction to something…”

Next will likely be my shoulders and maybe back so I am halfway decent if I decide to go for a swim for exercise (Yeah…right…)

It’s up to the E-Person if they want their name mentioned.

Again apologies- no pics- i have a before pic but it’s not the best blech. If I can I will try to take a pic of after- tried to last night but the camera battery died after about 10 failed attempts at pics lol.

Here goes nuffin’!

WOW, HairyMonkey, my translator does not interpret well all your words, but it seems that your experience has been satisfactory. Good for you!

LOL! sorry about that. I love to write so sometimes what I write won’t come through well. Thank you Jossie

I will probably go to a different electrolysist for the rest of my body and keep in touch with the other regarding any further stuff related to my beard.

Day two after the last session- I am still puffy and swollen but it does not hurt at all (it ITCHES though…). I had to go into work for a few hours; while there was training/mentoring another tester face to face. She either didn’t notice or didn’t say anything. Maybe my hoodie covered it mostly… LOL
I still can’t get quite decent photos- some are okay so will post them up tomorrow. So far it is looking really good- couldn’t be happier, and I’ll be very happy not to see the bald spot anymore

Hey monkey! What are you using post care on your face? I just tossed the tea tree creme they gave me when i read the ton of synthetic ingredients in it . I’m unable to find witch hazel here . Made the aloe and tea tree but it is so drying and my skin feels so dry on top of how sensitive it is after the electro…i’m feeling wary of the sun right now but my skin might rebel if i even think of putting sunscreen on it at this time. Hope hats are good enough…take care…

Tea Tree Oil overnight might have saved you from any scabs or pustules, and Aloe Vera would have taken the itch away during the day.

It is best to have the pure Tea Tree and Pure Food Grade Aloe Vera, but for some reason it is hard to keep the message clear that an aloe product that is 99% aloe and 1% chemicals and coloring agents, are not equivalent. It is sort of the difference between Orange Juice, and Orange Drink.

Hello all! I’m back!

Not long after I posted my follow up, my desktop hard drive gave up the ghost (or almost) and could not afford a new hard drive.
Since then am on my laptop and kept forgetting to come back here as I don’t have it bookmarked (it is now!). THEN in September I lost my job :frowning: and am still currently looking.

I am hoping to restart my journey again once I land a job (some possible ones right now) and get my money sorted and in order…

As for how I am doing. Right now I have a lot of dormant hair growth which I expected. You can still see the patchy area but overall it is thinned out a bit. I have pics from after my sessions with James and more recent photos. Will try to post them up tomorrow once I remember where I put them.

I really want to restart so that I can complete my chin area and get my upper arms/shoulders done…by then I’ll have to find somebody possibly up in the Clemson University area- dependent on where I will land job-wise. Anybody have an opening for an IT person?

Glad to have you back and posting.

If I had not been too lazy to start the “McDonald’s of electrolysis” you would certainly have a job with us.

I hope the job search goes well, but in the mean time, don’t forget to pick up on all that local work helping ordinary folks with their computers. Done correctly, that could keep you “in fish and chips” for a long time, as the English would say.

Ha! I probably should do that…right in my own apartment complex!

Still waiting to hear back- hoping this week will bring forth interviews(s) with a couple of jobs that I was submitted for.

Still looking for my pics lol. Packing up the place and selling off some big items…

It’s never to late…

Strange thing, I am still too lazy to do that.
I would sooner bike from Buffalo to Los Angeles than knuckle down and do that. While I am passionate about the work that I do, and helping the people I help, I can’t raise enough inspiration to joust with the tribulations of attempting to build and run a national company that would of necessity require managing tens or even hundreds of people.

I have a hard enough time with the demands and petty jealousies of my family members. Oh, and then there is the very real point that those one attempts to help in this way, (teaching them, hiring them, or working out a profit sharing plan) have a high incidence of screwing you over.

It is not like I have never done anything in that direction, it is more that all that I have done in that direction has been a disincentive.
