Testing Parkside

Hi there, London forum users,

A couple of weeks ago I tried out Parkside for the first time. Elaine treated a few hairs on my face, neck and stomach, and then Sharon finished off what was left on my stomach a few days later (Elaine had run out of time).

I’ve now noticed that two hairs on my stomach are DEFINITELY re-growing. I can tell that they are because they’re kind of stuck under the skin, the way that so often hairs you’ve fiddled with are when they grow back. The trouble is, I can’t remember exactly who did these - Elaine or Sharon - but I think, from where they are, that it must be Sharon.

Does this mean she didn’t treat them properly? I really don’t know why that would be the case, seeing as they’re not fine hairs at all - medium, I would say. But seeing as I was planning to possibly try Parkside for finer hairs later on, I feel pretty disheartened that they weren’t even able to zap some pretty easy starter hairs.

Any thoughts welcome.

Hi Tealight, just thought I’d check in to say that I have read this but don’t know what advice to offer. Hopefully one of the electrologists will say something.

It might be a case of distorted follicles, which can be difficult to treat but I don’t know enough to postulate.

Hi tealight, do not be disheartened, i think its highly unlikely that the hairs you have noticed are the hairs that were treated as it takes at least 6-12 weeks for hair to regrow. It will be at least 3-4 months before you start to see a real difference in hair texture and amount. Keep going and let your electrologists know your concerns I’m sure they will put your mind at rest.

Good observation Tealight. Indeed, our patients ARE getting informed, aren’t they? The better they are informed the better it is for all of us. Bravo!

If you have not been shaving or tweezing for some time, what you are seeing it the result of an insufficiently treated follicle: actually “instant regrowth.” Basically the therapist has missed the follicle, damaged the upper portion of the hair but not the lower growing hair. So, the skin (epidermis) heals over the follicle and the regrowing hair becomes imbedded. Often the imbedded hair has a blunt end, almost as if it had been shaved.

I wouldn’t worry too much if it’s only two hairs. Nobody’s perfect?

Michael, that’s exactly what they look like. Shaved embedded guys.

I know it sounds a bit uptight to fuss over two hairs, but you see she probably only treated about six in total! These are strays I was messing about with to see if I liked the electrologists at this salon before moving on to bigger and better things (i.e. areas).

The benefit of the doubt may lie, however, in the fact that I know Sharon was running late that day (it was a busy Saturday) and so maybe she wasn’t as careful as she usually is. Perhaps the key is to schedule appointments during the week if possible, so that she’s less likely to be under pressure. Stoppit, when do you normally go?

It’s funny because at the time I definitely thought Sharon had done the better job. Her treatment was less painful, and my skin didn’t scab the way Elaine’s bits did on the same area.

Then again, I’m still only guessing this was Sharon’s work - I had my head back so wasn’t actually watching my tummy get done. Damn! I’ll never know!

P.S. Thanks for your comments Mairi, but these have to be the treated ones really - I don’t pluck or shave this area, so there’s no reason why these hairs would be growing under the skin.

As I see from your history you are familiar with electrolysis, and if you haven’t tweezed or waxed this area, then yes something is amiss, hope you get on better next time.
