Test patches for chin & undarms

I went for a test patch for the chin and underarms at a laser center in Toronto where they have the GentleLase. The laser tech told me I was a type II and test patched me for the following settings: chin area 15 mm at 30 joules and underarm 18mm at 16 joules.
I booked my appointment in 4 weeks because I stopped tweezing the chin area only 2 weeks ago. We both agreed my face upper lip should be done with electrolysis since hairs are fine (honest technician since they dont provide electrolysis at this place).
No gimmicks, price per session are very affordable at $69.00 for underarms and $69.00 for chin area and she threw as a bonus the nipples area. By the way in all 3 areas I have dark coarse hairs to treat.
Did anyone have the nipples done with laser?
Is it safe to use an alexandrite laser in that area?

As long as the skin is light and all the other variables that have been discussed on the forum are present, it should be fine. Good price as well.

Kind regards,
Benji

Hi Benji,
I am not concern about the skin but about the nipple itself which is pink, does it have melanin? I don’t want to be burn there. Ouch!
Thanks

All skin has melanin, if the skin is pink (e.g. rose and so on) that should be fine. Laser itself can barely pick up red pigment, hence why some laserologists still use red pen to mark out areas, although many use white.

It’s mainly pigment that would be considered a tan colour and darker that would be a problem. It does hurt when being lasered around the nipple but can’t say Iv’e ever had a burnt one

Kind regards,
Benji

Yes, they shouldn’t be treating the actual nipple. That should be covered. In general, I would do electrolysis on that area even if the hairs are coarse (as I did on this area). Unless there is enough coarse hair to cover the entire breast, they are probably mixed in with fine hairs, and treating those can make the growth worse. For such a small area, I don’t think it’s worth it. But it’s up to you. I had this area done with electrolysis and it was efficient and easy. And there was no risk of either affecting the nipple itself or of having hairs left over because they were too close to the nipple. Plus, electrolysis can blend in the area with the rest of the breast.

Otherwise, those settings and prices are good for the other areas as long as you’re treating coarse hair only. Maybe you could share the clinic name for others here.

Electrolysis for the area around the areola’s is tops. Easy to clear and maintain. Pretty fast results WHEN PERFORMED BY A COMPETENT ELECTROLOGIST.

Since it’s free I’ll get the nipple area treated but I agree electrosis would be the ideal solution financially and logically.

By the way I have a friend who had her nipples treated with the Lightsheers, had no issues with laser in that area, and her hairs are gone for more than 2 years now. Like me, she just had about couple of dark coarse hairs around each nipples. I don’t have any major hair issues in that area like fine hairs and therefore I am not concern about regrowth. Also settings that will be used are not low.

I am still looking for a competent electrologist in my area to do my upper lip and its very hard.

The name of the Clinic I found in Toronto is: Anti Aging Laser Cosmetic Clinic 416-767-0404. The Laser Clinic operates separately from the Anti Aging clinic, they share the same facilities with other professionals such as Dr’s, Chiro, Naturopath etc. I don’t know yet if I can recommend the Clinic since I didn’t the treatment yet. But so far I am pleased that the tech. properly assessed my skin type which is crucial in a treatment, otherwise I would have started with low setting and complain again that I didn’t shed etc…

Thanks for reporting. I think there have been previous discussions on electrologists in Toronto on the forum. Have you tried running a search and expanding on the Electrolysis forum results to last three years?

Have you tried a search here for an electrologist in Toronto?

Yes I did a search and phoned someone who listed her number in this forum. Unfortunately her place is too far from me but she was nice enough to give me a referal. I have two electrolysis consultation booked in the next 2 weeks.
Thanks.
