Synchro HP Laser machine

Has anybody heard of this and would recommend it? I am 23 and want to get laser hair removal on my underarms, I am light skinned with thick coarse hair and have to shave my underarms everyday. I can’t find any reviews online so thought you guys might be able to help. The only other machine I have heard of is Ellipse - also not sure if this is any good?

The synchro is a yag, I’m pretty sure. If you have light skinned you’d be way better off going for an Alexandrite or Diode laser.

I think the ellipse would be predominantly IPL, which isn’t a laser and isn’t as useful for hair removal.

Put your location up and someone might be able to help with a recommendation. Otherwise, search for laser clinics in your area… some well known, often used lasers which have great results include the GentleLase, Apogee Elite and LightSheer. The GentleLase is great because of the large spot size. Your treatments will take less time and hopefully have less spots missed. Try calling the clinics, asking about their machines and going in for consultations. As a general rule of thumb, you should NOT have to pay for consultations or a test spot to be done to check the settings they will use on you when you have an actual treatment.
You should try and find out if the practitioner has a lot of experience and if they are willing to use treatments that are right for your skin and hair type, so as to be more effective.

And… don’t get stuck into signing any contracts for packages for treatment. For underarms, prices should be around $50 to $100 or thereabouts. Any higher and you might eb able to find better ideas. The next step after this is to read a thread that has been “stickied” at the top of the page in this forum. It’s a FAQ (frequently asked questions) guide to help you find out more about the process of laser hair removal.

Goodluck

Thank you for your reply  I really didn’t know there was a difference with all these machines, I thought they were all laser hair removal machines but clearly I need to do more research.

I have just looked up a clinic nearby and they have the following machines:

The diode laser (known as LightSheer) developed by Lumenis (the largest laser hair removal equipment company in the world), the Nd YAG Laser, developed by Cutera and the Alexandrite developed by Cynosure give superior results for caucasian, black and asian skin types.

I looked at the FAQ’s on this website and these all seem to be the most popular machines used which is reassuring so I called the clinic and she said the consultation is free and that each treatment costs £75. I am based in North London so if anyone knows any clinics nearby to recommend that would be great.

Wow that clinic sounds really awesome! Like, the fact that they actually have different lasers so that all skin/hair types are catered for… usually they’ll just assure you that whichever system they use is perfect for you.
The LightSheer is a diode and is great BUT it also takes a lot of skill to use properly.
Cynosure makes the Apogee alexandrite laser (Alexandrite is the type of laser :P).

Hmm, Stoppit is from London. I’m not sure exactly where but you could look at some of her old posts/threads to find out where she goes. It might also be worth looking in to.

Renew Medica, Oxford Circus branch in London - this is the place that Stoppit goes.
75 pounds is around $130 australian. I pay $70 a session for my underarms here in australia… definitely keep looking? on the other hand, it might mean a superior/professional service…

Ah that’s the exact same clinic I was looking at! But the one I was going to go to is the North London branch, I have had a look at Stoppit’s posts and she seems happy with the treatment so I think I will book in for a consultation next week. Thank you for your help

If you’re very light skinned, go with the alexandrite type of laser that they have. Those are wonderfully effective lasers for type I and type II skin.

I agree. If you’re that light, an alexandrite laser would be best, at good settings of course. Apogee Elite is both an alex and a Yag. And the other Apogee machines are alex types. So any Apogee would be good for you.

Hope to see you post about your experience here down the line!

Synchro HP is a YAG laser that is made by DEKA. The 2010 Model has a 20 mm spot size. It is also very fast. We will be adding it to our facility within the next 10 days.

Thanks for the info Chris!
