Hello all, I am currently using an Apilus SX500 and I am thinking about purchasing a Platinum. So I have a question to all those who use the Aplilus machine, is the Platinum really an upgrade and why? I really like my SX but if I can improve my results and give my client more comfort then I would be willing to make the investment.
I feel silly that I posted this, all I had to do was spend a few hours reading what all of you had to say about your Platinum machines. I am so thankful that Hairtell exists, so much experience and knowledge on these pages. Someone should gather all the info concerning electrolysis on this website and write a book.
We are glad to have you here at HairTell.
Our best thank you will be for you to contribute what you can.
… as for writing a book… If I had twenty dollars for everyone who said that… I would have time to put together a book.
I had a sx 500 before my platinum… what i noticed is less redness and faster healing… LOVE IT FOR THAT ALONE!! the other thing is for my sensivive clients i noticed better results… i could just sneeak more curent in there with out them wimpering about it… one i would start doing now ( if you dont already) is start charting your EL levels so when you switch to your platinum you have an idea on what ELs you need to get the hair out.
Kelly “tips”,
Keeping a journal of the “el’s” is a great aid and i really love comparing what I have found that works with my colleagues.
I do journal my el’s and I just ordered some Kelly’s. From what I have been reading the el’s are lower on the Platinum than the SX? I’m excited, I will order the Platinum today.
The Platinum is a great investment. If you get the Pure model, be sure and take advantage of having Synchro added for about $450-$475 more. I love having a printer, but you can add that later if you buy the Pure.
I own a pure, originally with the synchro module (IMO a must have), but since a repair with the electronics of the “big” platinum inside. The printer is one of the things wich cannot be fitted into the machine (and the two missing knobs hurt sometimes as well).
@Gretchen: the ELs are definitely smaller than they are on my Junior.
another thing to consider when buying a 27 mhz from dectro… they have a cataphorisis tool that vibrates… consider getting it… it comes with the platinum … its a add on for the pure… but the vibration realllly helps sooth sore skin post treatment… my clients love it… Ohhh and Dee it took me a min to get Kelly “tips” your tooooo funny gota get some coffie…
what i love about the printer is for those clients who book 15 minutes and need 1 hour then try to get a few extra free minutes… many times if truly they only need a few extra zaps i just finish… but some people just like to try to use you… with the printer you can say ok times up do you want a few more minutes the machine does the math for me… and then they never argue about the price… also i have some who need recipt…for me its worth it for others its not… but think about the options.
Kelly,
I use my printer to death. You are right about the no arguing about the exact time or price, the management system does it for you. If I need to interrupt the appointment, I turn off the timer and it automatically restarts the second I start inserting again. 99% of the people love getting a statistic sheet with the number of insertions, minutes on the table and price breakdown. I like it for my accounting chores. I still have on my wish list a request to Dectro for a longer timer. The timer resets after 256 minutes. Many of my appointments are longer than 4 hours and 15 minutes, so I am back to manually figuring time and cost.
My cataphoresis wand is still in the unopened box. I really must start using that! Be ready for a question or two about that on the AEA Facebook, Kelly “tips”!
i wish the had the timer go to at least 10 hours… i know for a fact i not doing more than 10 in a day. i try not to do more that 8 hours of zap time in a day… my perfect day would be 6 hours… but sometimes ya just gota get em done… what i tend to do if i know they are going to be more than four hours… is when i take a break i run the printer and start again… then just add the tickets up… often i break it up into areas… like if im clearing a beard… ill do upper lip, run the receipt, lower lip and so on for each spot , they like to break it down that way when they are there for hours… a break for u and them while the get a kick out of seeing the statistic for each spot. GOTA USE THAT VIBRATING THING ITS AWESOME THERE GOING TO BE MAD YOU DIDNT USE IT BEFORE!!! only a few dont like the buzzing feeling but the rest demand it if i forget!
I love the printer on my SX and my clients do to, they just love to see how many hairs were killed. If the pure had a printer I might have decided to go down that road but now I am glad that the pure does not have a printer. Now I just have to wait 10-14 days, I am so excited I can’t wait to use it.
Mhmm, the timer of my machine (Pure with motherboard of the large Platinum) goes circularly over the 99 min again and again. If i stop it simply continues - a huge progress over the timer of my Junior which starts running backward when it is stopped after crossing the 100 minutes boundary
Seriously, timers should be able to cover treatments spread over more than one day.
That’s crazy! I bought two Taylor Timers that count upward for 19 hours straight. One I use to time jan individual area, like an upper lip clearance, for example, and the other is for keeping track of the full time if a session will be going over the 4 hour and 15 minute mark and I am working on more than one area.
