Swimming after electrolysis?

I belong to a swim club, how many hours after treatment can I swim?
Is there something I can put over treated areas to prevent infection before going swimming?

You should consider the outcome of an electrolysis sessions to be an open wound which is healing (it is exactly that). So look at the state of the healing process and decide what YOU would do with such a wound.

IMHO contact with the water of a public swimming basin is a situation where the risk of an infection of the wound is really large - so i would be careful. If the treated area is dry and if the scar dots are visible, it might be ok. If there are healing complctions, You should be really careful.

Compare the treated area to an abrasion (which is pretty close - only that the healing skin is hidden in many tiny pockets). Under which circumstances would You go swimming with a (large!) abrasion?

So have a look at Your body and accept Your responsibility for the healing process.

Okay, I understand. Then I will wait two-three days before swimming. If I get my treatment on Monday, can I swim by Thursday?

Also, what would happen if I swam and my skin wasn’t ready, just delayed healing or more redness?

More redness might be an issue actually. And even as it is a public swimming pool there might be concerns about the cleanliness of water. You do not need any infections caused because of that

Yes, I understand. So, would swimming 48-72 hours after treatment be ok? Like I would get my treatment on Monday and go swimming Thursday?

There is no uniform healing time frame in electrolysis. Many factors such as type of modality, type of needle, type of machine used can affect skin reaction times and also how your own body responds to healing.

Do you have any after photos so we can see what kind of reaction you’re getting?

I can suggest you invest in 100% Tea Tree oil and apply it before bedtime for 3 days straight after treatments. This is the only method that speeds up healing process for me. My healing time lasted 2 weeks minimum on the body because current electrologist doesn’t use insulated probes. With Tee tree oil, I get most of the scabs and redness to shrink in 4 days. (Tea Tree oil has a strong medicinal scent so use at night only.) And Also use a moisturizer in the morning as the oil dries skin.

So, do you think swimming is okay after a few days?

Wow 4 days to heal minimum? Can you apply make up to cover up redness/scabs?

Redness is supposed to last a couple hours to a day.

I haven’t started yet, consultation is Tues.
