Sun Exposure *After* Laser Treatment

Hi All. I thought i should find out about this since i am going on holiday on the 13th December. I have had laser in the passed few days on my face and chest. I think i will need touch ups. what amount of time and why should i leave between a treatment and sun exposure??

I was thinking to go for touch up around 5th December. Would this be okay? And any thoughts or advice about this would be appreciated.

Many Thanks.

Laser & Tanning

For the very best results, you want to be as pale as possible. The paler you are, the higher the settings can be, the lower the risk for burns, hyper- and hypo- pigmentation.

i see i was thinking to get a tan and stay off laser for a couple of months until the tan has gone. is it dangerous then to be exposed to the sun after laser, should i completely avoid trying to get a tan?

this hyperpigmentation looks scary i just googled it :S

i had laser 21 november, i will be on holiday from 13th december to 4th january.

As noted before, the literature posted by the manufacturers say that one should not tan for 6 weeks after a treatment. Maybe they are being overly conservative, but that’s what their lawyers tell them to tell you.

I’ve got about 20 treatments of laser and I’ve never had any hyperpigmentation issues. You should certainly stay out of the sun for at least a week or until the irritation goes down, but in my experiences a couple times I went out in the sun and got slightly burned on the treated area about 5 days after treatment. I didn’t notice anything adverse, and this is an extreme case. I don’t recommend it, but I have pretty pale skin too. I would think you would be ok unless you are planning on laying out and getting burnt. But please keep in mind, this is just one case, and may not be representative for everybody out there.

Use a strong SPF and limit your exposure. Your success is going to depend on how dedicated you are to LHR.
