Success with male posterior neck?

I had a couple sessions with the Yag and have a lot of regrowth with the possibility of some paradoxical growth as well. I’m thinking about trying again, but has anyone experienced success in this area? I have medium skin with dark black hair.

Hi Carl,

If this is the area I’m thinking of, do you mean the back of the neck? (I’ve slept only 2 hours after flying across the country so forgive me if I sound like a moron). If so, I treated this area with laser. I’m a lot lighter so I used an alex (actually, we did a few treatments with alex and then did 1 or 2 with an alex followed immediately by a yag in the same treatment.) Personally, my success in this area has been a lot less than some other areas. Although I believe the density did go down, it still feels like a lot of hair there. I’m currently doing electrolysis on it in hopes of better success here. I don’t recall ever having paradoxical growth in this area.

Hope that helps!

Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about. How many sessions did you do? Thanks!

I “believe” (it’s been over a year since my last treatment) I did 5 on the alex, and then 1-2 on the alex/yag combo. Then I had a break and did 1 more with alex at a different doctor’s office last summer because it was $50 haha.

Worth it?

Hard to say. My dermatologist told me I had an enormously high density of follicles. After the first alex/yag combo, we both noticed a large degrees in the number of follicles. So, even though there were a lot there, the laser seems to have helped reduced the density to make electrolysis more manageable. If I could’ve found a very good electrologist where I am, I might have just started with that. So I’m a bit torn about if it was worth it. Basically, it seems to be the area the responded the least, but it also seemed to help reduce the density to make electrolysis more reasonable. Sorry there isn’t a simple yes/no answer

Can you post a picture Carl?

This is from before I had it lasered, but I don’t think it looks much different and maybe has more hair. Basically I feel like I’m always shaving it and it grows really fast.

The pic is too small. Well, if the hair is as coarse as (or more) underarm hair then laser might help at GOOD settings. If not, electrolysis.

Thanks for your help. Shaved with a couple days of stubble.

Truthfully, I had much more on my neck and even more that led into my upper back (I’m jealous that that’s all you have.) That’s why I went with laser. If I had what you have, I’d have gone straight to electrolysis. I’m not sure about the sensitivity of this area. Find a skilled electrologist in your area and you will be hair-free in no time!
