Strawberry legs?

Hi!

Could someone take a look at this pic and tell me if electrolysis would help in shifting these dots ? They’re not all raised or anything. I have light hairs all over my legs. I had laser many years ago but can’t now as the hairs are too fine. Post laser, i have been left with a combination of hairs and flat red/light brown dots. I’ve had my first clearance on my right leg. That too, had some of these.

It is however, still healing so I cannot tell if anything has shifted. Some have stuff stuck underneath and because I have thin skin, not sure if i should use chemical peels.

Admittedly, in my early days, I may have sunbathed a few weeks after haaving laser (very bad of me). Now I slather on that sunscreen.

Anyway, now I have these dots all over.

Any suggestions would be great.

This doesnt look like strawberry legs to me. This looks like hyperpigmentation from either ingrown hairs or inflamation caused by the hair finding its way to the surface. Strawbery legs is a little different. It’s caused by plugged pores and an overactive sebacious gland. The overactive gland overproduces sebum which congeals and forms a plug in the pore of the hair follicle.
I have one client who has a quite severe case of this, the area around her groin has several of these bumps some of which are filled with pretty descent amounts of sebum plug. Sometimes I find a hair in the follicle, sometimes not. It gives the effect of “plucked chicken skin” over the whole area. I’ve taken to removing the plug on a few of them over each visit over the last couple years and treating it with electrolysis to destroy the hair follicle. She has improved over time.
For your condition, the hyperpigmentation is caused by the hair itself. It will resolve, but since the hair will renew itself every 3-5 months so does the hyperpigmentation. The solution…is to kill the hair and interrupt the process. I’d recommend electrolysis over laser due to the hyperpigmentation concern

Thank you-Makes sense.

Some of these are red in person and have been there for years.

Should I avoid using any chemical exfoliants? I am very fair and don’t want to make skin worse at all.
Would electrolysis help in eliminating the red dots?

I really wouldnt. Depending on how long since laser, these spots are likely just hyperpigmentation from the laser treatment. Like all hyperpigmentation they will fade over time. There’s not really a lot a chemical exfoliant can do except possibly make the hyperpigmentation worse.
