stomach hairs

So as most know I’ve been on the electrolysis journey for a long time 2 years.
I’ve had random hairs around my nipples cleared a hair on my hand and chin.

I still get a few longer blonde ones on my chin and continue to work on my upper lip which I introduced after around a year.
I’ve had a couple of hairs under my belly buttom removed around a year ago but out of the blue today whilst bathing, I have noticed 3 shorts very dark brown/black buds on my upper stomach in the centre on my ribs.

Will this ever end I have never plucked or removed hairs from anywhere other than my chin before starting this journey and have no idea why I get them in other random area’s.

I am seen as an attractive women where men will stare and look at me but they can’t see what I’m hiding. This is totally and utterly disgusing.

I am so scared this journey is never going to end and I’m not going to end up with full on stomach hairs why on earth has this happened to me.

I can only think that i’m cursed to live a hairy life and although I’ve been out and about loving life I’ll be resigned to hiding myself away again.

I just hate how I’ve felt so fabulous and towards the end of my journey then something like this happens, I see posts of women and plenty with upper lip and random chin hairs hairs around their belly button and below but up the top of the stomach.

I have been going to the gym this last year and in the last 4 months I’ve been drinking 1 whey protein shake after returning form the gym could this be causing the darks hairs to come back and in area’s that I’ve never had issues.

Or perhaps the Dr who tested me in the first place and found zero wrong with me but stated it was probably genetics is right and its never going to go.

I know it’s hard. It may well be hormonal if it’s popping up in patches. I was tested for PCOS hormonal (excess androgens or something) three times and TWICE it came back within normal range. I still displayed all the symptoms, so I was referred to an actual endocrinologist. I got more specific tests done (three in total) and finally got the diagnosis. He said sometimes PCOS imbalance can wax and wane, so it may well be worth going in for further testing. It certainly helped me- I’m on spironalactone to reduce androgens now and I’m already finding it helpful. And in future, it should help stop hairs popping up as much, if at all.

I’ll say this straight up- It’s not your protein shake. If it is hormonal hair, gaining a lot of weight is observed to increase the hair growing, but bar that it probably has no real ‘cause’- certainly none that I’m aware of.

It really does SUCK when you find hair in new places, and me saying this probably won’t help you much, but we’re our own worst critics when it comes to excess hair. No one cares as much as we do- and that’s something I really had no idea about until this year. You can have them treated just like the hairs on your face- It may just take you a little longer. Women like us are only ‘‘doomed to a hairy life’’ if we decide to be, please don’t give up on yourself and feeling fabulous because of a setback. I’m not bullshitting here, it’s not the ‘end’, just a setback- Abdominal hair is actually quite a common thing to have zapped

James, I mean no offence to you personally, but Dr Glidden is a ‘Naturopath’ and he personally has made many a quack statement. I don’t personally believe that type of medicine stands up to scientific scrutiny, but if you do then that’s absolutely acceptable. I’m not attacking you on it.

I just thought Helen might need to know before taking this man’s advice, in case she didn’t already.

Dr Glidden

You can easily reference this guy yourself on the internet, but do heed the words of Dragons. Of course, I’m "prejudiced’ since I have worked directly with physicians for 40 years. Dr. Glidden is not a medical doctor.

I found his demeaning (and scoffing/laughing) statement "The People’s Republic of California’ disturbing. He summarily dismisses California (a State of 30 million people and the world’s 7th largest economy) as some sort of "communist State?’

He further dismisses "big Pharma’ (all the pharmaceutical companies?) as some sort of conspiracy. In other articles he states that chemotherapy for most cancers is worthless. In other places on the internet (find them yourself) he is criticized for selling supplements.

Sorry, but I "relate’ to the medical profession and do not believe they are conspiring against your health. I DO believe in diet, clean living and supplements? Yes, of course! However, I believe all therapies, both "medical’ and "natural,’ should be held to the same scientific standards.

The endocrinologist to whom I refer patients (Dr. Schwartzbein), by the way, initially treats her patients with dietary changes (similar to the recommendations of Dr. Glidden). However, she does not see medicine as being detrimental to treatment … when it’s necessary. All therapies … same objective scientific standards.

Of course I do understand the questionable economics in (American) medicine, but to rebuke the whole enterprise as a CONSPIRACY is utter lunacy. I do not see Glidden as a reasonable medical authority.

I’m not sure I saw an endorsement anywhere of this particular speaker, just a request to listen to the information presented. I think it important to listen to alternative points of view? That kind of thing, well, leads to discussion.Sometimes things are learned through discussion.

I’ve asked James to pop his head in and comment from time to time. I felt as there was benefit to be had from his extensive experience of electrology. Do you think it might be possible for all the kiddies to play nice?

The video advises treatment in a specific way and claims that actual doctors are plain wrong.

By putting it up, that IS the advice being given.

I only pointed out that this particular doctor is somewhat dubious, and in a highly debated profession. MB chimed in with his beliefs on the man.

None of this was an attack on James Walker. It was addressing this Dr Glidden’s agenda more than anything. This isn’t playing nasty, Seana. And to be honest, I don’t appreciate the condescension of ‘kiddies’.

I’ve seen people taken in by these ‘super doctors’ before. I thought helen ought to know before taking his advice.

Dragons, I’m sending you a PM if that is ok?

Hi Dragons,

I think Seana was being a "cute’ in her comment (?) … please don’t feel "slighted’ in the least. I don’t think that was her intention. On-line writing sometimes comes off as "mean’ when it was not intended as such.

I think the discussion of "natural vs. medical’ would be a valuable topic of discussion, because it’s something we confront daily.

Overall, I see too many women getting themselves in trouble with "fad diets’ and "cosmetic procedures’ … all of it to keep up with our devastating insistence on unrealistic "women’s beauty standards.’ I wish our society would celebrate intelligent women who have actually contributed … instead of the "Kim Kardasians’ of the world.

Besides, whose FACE is more beautiful? Donald Trumps, or Carly Fiorina’s? AND, why is that even an issue? Carly should have slapped Donald right in his big fat "kisser!’

For those interested in diet and medicine and "women’s issues’ please refer to the below website of Dr. Diana Schwarzbein (Santa Barbara). Her book was written by my friend Nancy DeVille and illustrated by another friend Orien Frazer (Orien did some illustrations for me too).

In my 40 years of practice, I’ve only had three patient with actual PCOS. Schwarzbein’s diet was helpful, but eventually some medication was necessary in these cases. (One patient’s transformation was so dramatic I didn’t recognize her after 6-months!) Nicely, if you sign up with Diana, you get lots of FREE information in her periodic on-line offerings.

I’m not sure I agree with all of Diana’s beliefs, and there’s a bit of a "sales pitch’ that I instinctively dislike, but she’s an excellent physician and you might get some good tips from her. Hey, nobody’s perfect? Good Luck!

Its sounds like I do most of the above anyways without the DR having to tell me.

I clean eat and mostly follow a paleo diet no process foods no low fat (sugar instead in these products no thanks) products just healthy fats.

I work out most days a min 5 x a week sometimes 7 I weight train 4 x cardio at gym twice although I walk the dogs daily too, I also try to do yoga once a week sometimes twice a week. This is why I take protein shakes they help me recover after excercising.

I am a UK size 10 US size 6 so not over weight.
I do not have a full on beard of any of the sort but I do get random hairs pop up and it when they come in new places that it scares you, especially since your doing so well on electrolysis that you haven’t seen a black one in nearly a year and all of a sudden a thick black one or two appears on your upper stomach Arrrr.

I think what I possibly need to work on in life is stress, the hairs do not help with this. I basically wake up gym come home take kids to school work the whole time the kids are at school, collect children walk dogs make dinner work again until around 8pm then read with the kids off to bed for 9-10pm.

I am lucky that I work from home and only work Mon-Thursday so do get a 3 day weekend.

I understand abdominal hair is common but I wouldn’t have thought it was so common on the upper park and more around the belly button and below. Anyhow i’m going in today so will feel a hell of a lot better this evening.
