Im having pro electrolysis done on my stomach, and chest. How do i keep the area looking good? I’ve noticed the red marks are still very visible, even though my last treatment was last week. I thought they usually go away after few days! Ive been using this Walgreens: Pharmacy, Health & Wellness, Photo & More for You after each treatment every night. Is there anything else I can do to make the skin look good? I want to take extra care of my skin! thanks.
Don’t neccessarly expect temporary skin side effects to resolve within a few days for body work. Clothes rubbing against the area and just the nature of healing in this area means that it will take longer. Wear loose fitting clothing if possible and use aloe vera gel 100% and tea tree oil.
It’s just so frustrating to look down after a week of my treatemnt and still see red marks.
Do you need to wear clothing that does not cover these areas?
well. It’s winter so these areas are covered up when I’m outdoors. I pull down my shirt constantly , so my stomach isn’t exposed at all. The chest area is tricky to cover up, because I don’t like wearing turtle neck all the time. I also think my skin is sensitive, because the red marks don’t fade like others have mention on this side. I should mention that she is using blend. Which in my opinion leaves bigger, and more long lasting marks. My hair isn’t that thick, but she insists that blend is more powerful.
Okay. I didn’t know if you lived in Southern California or Northern California. So, you can cover up. Microflash/Picoflash can handle these hairs as powerfully as blend, by the way. I do these areas all the time. Having red marks for a week or more is normal. Try to be patient and use good aftercare. It will be worth it in the end to get permanent hair removal. Confide in your electrologist. Maybe she can do some tweaking.

I found out today that she has an Apilus senior, Apilus platinum, and Clareblend Elegance. She uses the clareblend on me, should I ask her to use the microflash on me? or just stick with what she is doing. She told me her clients have had better results with the clareblend than the Apilus. She said blend is more powerful…
Another question I have is that I’ve had laser treatments on this area for years, will electrolysis work on this area, or do i have to wait couple years for the hair to be in the right stage again??? How should I tackle a big area such as my stomach, I fine hair all over my stomach?
WELLLLLLL, if she is not planning on learning how to use that Apilus Platinum and making it a part of her business, I know of a lot of people here on this forum who would be happy to take it off her hands.
As for her statement about Blend being more powerful, think of it like an old Kung-Fu movie. “Your Kung-Fu is good, but can you do Karate’, or Tai-Quan-Do?” Her Blend is strong, where her PicoFlash is weak. In the hands of another pracitioner, the equation would be reversed with still another, one would be able to get reliable, permanent hair removal no matter what modality was used. In that case, the only difference would be number of hairs killed per minute, and the sensation experienced during the treatment.
This is why we say here that one should get the work done in the modality that the electrologist working on you is most comfortable using. At the same time, that doesn’t mean that one can’t get as good, or better work in another form from some one else working close by.
Point one:
If she doesn’t intend to use that Apilus Platinum ask her [size:20pt]WHY!!! [size:8pt](for God’s sake!) [size:8pt]I swear my head’s going to explode. Does she really have an Apilus Platinum?
It sounds like she is afraid to leave the warmth and comfort her lovely friend, Clareblend. She can do blend on the Platinum and it will feel very comfortable on you, the client. Tell her it is very easy to do.
Point two:
Electrolysis will definitley work on any area, any color of hair, any structure of hair on any color of skin. No waiting necessary after laser as long as the skin is healed. The only thing required is finding a skilled electrologist who can expertly operate an epilator, say, like an Apilus Platinum?
Point three:
If one is a microflash or picoflash thermologist, no area is too large. Abdominal hair can be tackled and controlled just fine. If laser hair reduction will not work for you, then all you have left is electrolysis, but electrolysis needs to be approached with the correct tools in the hands of a modern electrologist who will do appointments that last longer than 15 -30 minutes. Simple as that.
I get an hour of treatment every other week. She said the reason why she isn’t using the microflash is because 75% of the hair comes back with it, whereas with blend only 50% comes back. The truth is I’ve been getting good results so far, though I think its too early to say anything. I will definately ask for microflash next time. I just want her to be comftroble with the machine, and use the right settings for it. I figured if she is not using it often she isnt familiar with it.
Umm… where does she get these numbers? 50% ? 75% ? I’m not aware of any data that has concluded and recently compared Microflash/ Picoflash thermolysis with blend. Old data relates this to plain old flash thermolysis (1/10 timing) vs. blend, but as far as I know, microflash/picoflash thermolysis has not been studied and analyzed. I do know that electrologists are reporting what they observe and what they observe doesn’t fit that low kill rate model anymore.
My main modality choice is PicoFlash / Microflash thermolysis for abdomen, chest and nipple area and permanent results are seen within 9-12 months, at the most! Sensation is better, skin outcome is better and one can stay cleared from the first clearance to the last remaining hairs. I do use blend on some hairs in the nipple area, sometimes, but only if the area can be cleared in the time allowed me.
You are right to point out that you just want her to do what is familiar. You will still get permanent hair removal, but hopefully someday she can kick it up to another level that works just as well as blend and thanks to the great companies that have presented us with better tools of the trade.

A Canadian University did some studies within the past ten years that found thermolysis to be effective. They even tested Micro and Pico Flash. Their studies showed once again that the placement of the probe is the largest factor in kill rate, with proper selection of treatment energy a close second.
Were these studies published and were there percentages attatched comparing micro and pico to blend in effectiveness? I would like to get a hard copy of this information. How do I do go about that, James? Was this done in conjunction with Dectro Internationals research and development of their epilators, in particular, the Apilus Platinum?
I’ve had about 6 hours of electro done on my stomach; I haven’t had a clearance yet. Approximately how many hours are needed to clear a stomach full of medium thick hair?
What method is she using? How many hairs do you have? How long will she work on you? Is your goal to get every single hair, even the finer ones? Is all the hair you want removed below the navel? What is her response? I can usually clear all obvious hair with no problem, in one session using the micro/picoflash thermolysis. It is really not too challenging.

I want all the obvious hair removed. we work an hour with every session. It’s my whole stomach, except the side of my stomach.
Okay. I looked above these last posts for answers. She uses blend on hairs from under the breast area down to the pubic line. SHe has the ability to do PicoFlash on an Apilus Platinum, but chooses to do blend for her own reasons, which might be good reasons. At this point, you just need to talk to her about your time concerns. We electrologists are all different, but you will stil get permanent hair removal if her insertions are good and the proper levels of heat and timing are used no matter if it’s a slower method or a faster method.
I am seeing somewhat of a reduction, definately too early to say if its permanet or not. I just feel like she is abit slow, plus she is using blend which takes abit longer. I won’t stop my treatments, will definately continue. Meanwhile I will be looking for another experienced electrologist. I’ve read couple old posts about Joanie from Hayward, I couldnt find anything on her from yellow pages, and this site. Definately like to know how experienced, and what epilator she is using.
Update: i’ve found her profile here, but her website is not working.
I don’t know what happened to dear Joanie?? If she can’t be located, then I will ask if Hayward is near Marin county?. I may have a lead for you from a client who lived here in Columbus while doing an internship last summer, but was a California resident. She was happy with her electrologist in Marin County, but wanted to continue treatments while she was here. I can check my records for the electrologist’s name if you live near Marin county and you can’t locate poster, Joanie. If you want to know Joanie’s last name, you can private message me. Since she didn’t reveal it here on the open forum then, I won’t either.
thanks, I would like to know any electrologist’s name that you can recommend in the bay area.
