Not all that thrilled about this one … still learning this skill. Hope you like it more than I do.
Nice work sir.
Very kind Sir Mike, thanks. Sort of left you “hanging” though. The next two will complete the story (I hope).
where did yo find the animations?
I did all the drawings myself. The 1950 film is easily found “on line.”
Also, an AMAZING film (by Amgen) on “White Cells” is worth seeing. This is the best animation I’ve ever seen of the White Cells “sneaking out” of the blood vessels. Again, very easy to find.
I’m just starting to try actual animations, because this really tells the story best. I have a friend that works for Pixar and hope she will help me a bit.
The next vid will be: Macrophages, Firbrobasts and Angiogenesis (9-minutes). Then after that “the wound module” that will put this all together … then, real photos of all the “boo boos” and explanation of what they are.
I’m heading down to an audio/recording studio to help me with the sound … “me no like it too very much!” They have ProTools and that’s an amazing program.
My hope is that when you have a “freaked out” client, you can refer him or her to the specific video … and then SLEEP at night! I can’t tell you how many sleepless nights I’ve had; and I don’t even live in SEATTLE!
Having spent a lot of my youth in recording studios, I’d give your audio portion of this one very high marks. Well done indeed and your voice is well suited to this endeavor IMO
Thanks for the thumbs up Mike. I suppose I learned my lesson today. I took the audio (from this video) to a studio and paid them $50 to make it better and it ended up sounding a LOT worse. (Eric said, “That’s what you get!”)
So we went and bought a new mic and a bunch of other audio equipment … that I don’t know how to use yet. I think I’m going to have another person talk too; this way it doesn’t get boring hearing the same “stooge” talking his stupid old head off!
Cubic bucks might not be the answer on this. The mic/studio setup you used on this one I don’t see how you can improve on it qualitywise. Big dollar mics are made to fit multiple situations. You have the perfect fit for this project. IMO I’d be loathe to change anything in the sound setup. One slight impedance change somewhere along the line could upset it. Using a different recorder for example might not get along as well with the microphone.
If I could stick my nose in a little further…showmanship/comedy is helpful for a long lecture to pull the audience back in when they drift but if you keep your videos short like this one, it becomes a distraction. I think your direct, clear approach on this one really gets the job done and keeps the watcher focused. FWIW
I think you are right … I had not thought about this. Next video is 9-minutes. Maybe I could get somebody to stick me with a needle now and then to liven up my delivery. Would a beautiful Laurier needle work? Hummm … I might not fell it?
The new mic seems to be doing what I want. We will use it on video 3 (video 2 is nearly done). I wanted to get rid of the “SSSSSS” sound. This new mic seems to tamp it down. (Eric said we have a “midi” too … some little blue device with a bunch of knobs on it. I’m “real big” on electronics as you can see.
Great start… the narration was good, don’t over-analyze the sound quality too much in an effort to achieve perfection, since it was already good.
Thanks … but then you know this “perfectionist” stuff … and why we became hair zappers too.
Next video is still not great in sound. But we got all new equipment yesterday and it should be better. We just have to learn how to use the stuff.
Doesn’t end … does it?
Get ready for the “attack of the macrophages!!!” EEEEEKKKKKK!
I’m just a amateur DIY’er, your videos are too complex for me,Michael, but the narrator’s voice is really sexy.
Video 3 should put this all together for you … at least in the practical sense. Sexy voice … funny … it’s me and old broken down koot!
Read a couple electrology books and learn some basics on the skin … there’s even a free download on my website that talks in simple terms about the skin.
