I found these looking for more affordable blend units that are less painful. Thoughts?
I sent an inquiry to TES but have not received a response yet.
My esthetician friend teaches Electrolysis, but I want more knowledge, would anyone would have a recommendation for a good book I can get on Amazon or such?
I went through the pinned resource list and collected most of it.
Call TES they’re more responsive over phone. I don’t know about Amazon but TES should still have Michael Bono’s The Blend Method which is authoritative text. You should choose most affordable machine to you.
BlednUltra should be good for beginners. Instantron is also top choice but will be much pricier. Speak to TES and they’ll guide you about best option for you. I would avoid Apilus as it’s more of an HF unit and not optimal for blend, plus depending on model type they have these batteries in the unit that die and can’t be replaced.
Would you have an idea of a fair ballbark price or range for the BlendUltra and the Instantron? All they said so far is that both unit were worth over 1500$
I’ll probably need to find someone to call TES for me :3
a new instantron was $3049 when I bought new about 6-8 years ago I think the Instantronics units are a little more now and as far as I know Sara Paisners company hasnt started making newer model units yet. I think they are set to be increased in price but I dont know how much.
When I speccced them out, clairbl;end units were about the same cost. .
I’d respectfully disagree on some points made by fenix about the older apilus units. I did my entire face in blend on an old apilus. Yes their batteries in the real time clock do sometimes fail, but their blend modalities work just fine for DIY work.
That said there has been a marked increase in prices of used electrolysis equipment over the last several years. I see old machines selling for much more money than I think they are worth for very older units.
For updated pricing, call the 1-800 number and speak to jennifer in sales. . I actually ordered some cables and tweezers from her last week. I have to say, that speaking with Jennifer at TES about my needs over the last 18 or so years, has to be one of the most PLEASANT sales experiences I have had in my entire lifetime. I cannot say enough good things about TES’s customer experience. She is beyond helpful to a fault and one of the more pleasant to deal with individuals you can come accross.Call her!
I’m new to the DIY electrolysis journey as well. I sent emails and called TES and have definitely had better response via telephone. Once you get someone on the phone, they will be very helpful. As a total newbie, I appreciated their patience and education. I just ordered their TES brand T-300. Wish me luck!!
It sort of is. They go flat after a number of years. A lot of these machines were made int he 90’s and early 2000’s. The real time clock chip is an integral part of the machines workings. Some people have had some luck in having the chip ( or battery in it ) replaced at an electronics shop but as most of these are 20 or more years old now, when the battery goes flat you have yourself a doorstop unless you can get it repaired.
SHIT. I wasn’t aware of this, I paid 450 for mine, as a Student I’m probably screwed if I need a new one. Maybe that’s why it’s so cheap because it’s old. I hate myself
Also Dectro doesnt service these machines any longer. They claim they cannot get the parts. I know I have an old SM-500 ( similar to a senior) that had the battery on a SRAM card, that battery has gone flat and from what I can tell the data on that card is irretreivable, and yep, it’s a doorstop. On the Seniors nd Juniors, this battery is on the motherboard in the RTC chip.
