Started LHR with Diode Milesman Premium in Romania

Hello everyone,

Here is the start of another LHR journey:
After 2-3 IPL sessions at the end of last year, I stopped it and started to look for a real laser to get my hair removed. This was the time I discovered this forum and truly got informed. That means a BIG thank you to all the contributors (consumers and pros)!
In Romania, there are few salons with true lasers, but I found one which I think might be “the one” and made an appointment for today…
They have a Milesman Premium Diode laser. I knew that from their website which is very informative, unlike the other websites that are full of lies and bullshit about the process and equipment. They say that the machine is cleared by FDA and has some additional certificates, explain the principles and compare it with each of other top equipment (points the similatities and differences to Soprano, Lightsheer, Cynosure, Nd Yag, Candela). If you find it useful, I can translate these in english. I don’t know how biased they are, maybe you can tell.
Anyway, I’m back home and here is the info:

  • custom care care was great, even though the place is modest
  • we’ve lasered underarms and full bikini (or brasilian, I don’t know how you call it, basically everything except a “landing strip”)
  • settings: well, I’m in doubt here. She used 22j on underarms and 20j down there (after testing some shots), because I thought I can’t take higher, but now I wish we have increased to 22j and maybe 24j on underarms. She said that it is efficient and that we will increase them next time. 30 ms (standard, if I remember right). I saw these settings on the screen. They say the frequency is 810 nm. That’s all. And she also said that it has 2 options to check (white or tanned skin) ?! How does it sound? Are these settings efficient or should I ask for a joule increase next time up to 24, maybe?
  • skin reaction was ok - I don’t really feel tender now, but it did hurt (bareable) and some bikini hairs popped right out
  • I’m sure the shedding will be fine, I just hope the setting were efficient for a permanent disable for this session
  • she didn’t propose the next appointment date, instead told me what I wanted to hear, that I should come back when enough hair grows again, that is in 8-10 weeks
Thank you in advance for your settings feedback or any other opinion/ questions. I’ll keep posting during the whole process.

What’s the spot size?

On the web site they say 10mm x 10mm.
So it was:
20-22 joules
30 miliseconds
10mm x 10mm spot size
Tx

Fluence is low for skin type 2/3. Ask them to test you at higher fluence. Pulse width and spot size are fine.

Ok, how much is enough for permanent damage on the specified body areas? 24? 26? Thanks…

I don’t know.

Ok, thanks for the reply anyway, mumbaigirl :).
Can anyone else give an opinion? I would really want to get the best out of my sessions, just like everyone else.
Additional question: if the joules are too low for permanent damage, that means that they are too low to damage SOME targeted hair or ALL targeted hair? Meaning, was this session completely useless or it did something, but not 100%?

It would have caused SOME damage to all the targeted hair- but may be not enough damage to disable it permanently.

Hi, it’s been 8 weeks from my first true laser treatment. I haven’t booked in the next session yet, because not enough new hair popped out (may be due to the 2 IPL treatments I had before laser). I’ll see how it goes and hopefully will get the next session done soon.
I want to increase the settings so my question remains: please, can anyone tell me what is the minimum fluence on this machine to disable my hair permanently? I remind you the settings used on my underarms & bikini II/III skin:
22 joules (underarms) and 20 joules (bikini)
30 miliseconds
10mm x 10mm spot size
Thank you very much!
