sparse coarse hairs and laser

I did my 1st laser treatment Jan 31st on a coarse dark hair area of my chin the size of a quarter. I am very pleased with it so far (used gentlelase). I did pull hairs out within 5 days after treatment, not with tweezers, but just my fingers helping them out which may have been the ones burned during the session. However I didn’t see much shedding at the 7-10 day mark and didn’t get even half of the re-growth back and it has been 2 months. Most of the hairs are much lighter now too.
1.Is is possible that I just got lucky and hit a good part of the growth cycle and killed alot of them right away?

2.Is it ok to go in for second treatment at the 9 or 10 week mark vs 8weeks? I have read anywhere from 6-12 weeks for next treatment but this was my first one. (my laser clinic says 4 weeks but I know from this forum that is false)

3.Last question is that I have a few sparse hairs on the other side of my chin that are dark and coarse. Are 3 hairs too small of an area to treat if they will include it? Can lasering any surrounding blonde hairs make them worse or will they be unaffected? I certainly don’t want to risk exaserbating any type of hair since I have superflous blonde hair as well as some dark coarse ones. Thanks so much for your help. I value your advice a great deal.

you should wait longer. it is likely that more hairs will appear later.

yes, don’t treat 3 hairs or around the blond hairs. it can become worse. just go in for an electrolysis treatment. it will take 5 mins at most.

thanks lagirl. Should I wait until 12 weeks but definitely not any longer? My appt is for thursday , which would be nine weeks. Do you, by chance, have any idea why laser would make the blonde hairs worse? I have heard this before from people who have written in forums such as this one.My tech said the laser just passes right over them and does no harm…and that scares me that she is misinformed.

Also every once in a while I find a hair that is blonde above the skin but dark brown at the root, half and half like a black and tan beer!! Will laser help these or not get them?

Thanks again

you should wait as long as necessary to have hair to treat. 12 weeks sounds fine, but you can wait 16 if you don’t have much by then. Some women report blond hairs turn darker on the face only. Haven’t heard of this happening on other areas. If the root is dark enough, laser will target it.
