I’ve had two treatments done on my upper arm’s (male). Spacing between treatments has been 5 weeks and I am currently in the 9th week. Results have been better then anticipated. The treated area’s are showing very little regrowth and what is showing is very fine; not very noticeable. Prior to this treatment I had 4 sessions with the Altus coolglide on the same area’s, this was about 1.5 years back. Total waste of time and money. If anything I would say the treatments induced growth. The hair seemed to grow back within 3 to 4 weeks after treatment, and the spacing was about every 7 to 8 weeks. There is no comparison to the results I have now.
I am a solid type III / coarse, dense hair.

Practitioner is an electrolygist and she’s knowledgeable, but I really think the difference is the machine. My main concern is whether I am going to soon between treatments ? My goal was hair reduction and the results have definitely surpassed my expectations. I am being told that recent news (for this industry) has suggested 5 to 6 week intervals are more suitable to catch regrowth in the anagen phase. Should I just post pone my next appointment, and if so how long should I wait ? I am definitely leaning in this direction. I just don’t know when it’s safe to assume the results are permenant / successful.
you shouldn’t follow some arbitrary protocol. You should wait for shedding after each treatment and then come in ONLY when you have enough hair grow in to justify another treatment. That usually takes 8-12 weeks at least and even longer after 3-4 treatments.
If you’re really light, you can probably go even higher on the joules on LightSheer. I think the problem with the previous treatments was the laser operator for the most part. Ther are 3 variables to the settings and many things could be set in a way that you won’t get results. The settings above are good because the pulse is relatively low and the joules are average (can be higher probably if you’re type III). Plus, if she’s using compression, that helps. Coolglide works on the coarse hair well given good settings.
Treatments every 5-6 weeks is way too early for most areas.
What you’re seeing is not the final result yet. But it’s a good sign that it is working. You will have dormant hair coming in within the next 3-4 weeks or so, which is when you should go in for another treatment. I’m glad they’re working for you now. Let us know how it goes.
Yes, it think you are going too soon between treatments. With only five weeks between, it is going to appear that the treatments are working well for you as you are done with the shedding phase and the “regrowth” is starting to appear. I would wait a few more weeks before coming to a conclusion. Also, there will be more hair to target for your next treatment.
