My clinic is switching from Harmony to Soprano.
I’ve heard it’s just about pain free in comparison (which sounds great).
But people talk negatively about it.
Has anyone ever had success with it?
It seems like a popular laser…surely some people must be getting results?
The Soprano can sometimes give some results, however it does not compete with others such as the GentleLASE and so on. The Harmony IPL is also not a bad either, it also has a large spot size (16mm I believe). RJC2001 I believe got some good results from this model.
Laser/IPL is nearly always painful when being reated at reasonable settings. Were having light fired into our skin that can create such thermal energy that it permanently stops or basically burns the follicle so badly it cannot product more hair. Somehow to me it doesn’t sound that painless. It is all just a marketing hype.
What skin type are you? Is the hair dark, coarse and dense? How many treatments ahve you had so far? Is the hair shedding?
The first one basically didn’t work.
The settings wern’t high enough.
The second time much more improved on my chest & stomach but it was pretty patchy. The doctor acknowledged this and said he said the patchyness won’t happen with this next treatment.
I’m not quite sure about my shoulders. There’s a little bit of improvement but still lots of hair. I think it’s course enough but I’ll post a pic soon so you can give me some advice.
We have yet to see any posts with results from the Sorprano. I have a feeling techs don’t know how to use it properly. I don’t know. Harmony IPL gets good reviews for the most part. It sounds like you need a more knowledgeable clinic with a better machine though. If there is nothing keeping you at this clinic (like a contract), I would start looking for a more powerful laser and more knowledgeable clinic.
I concur with the above having used both. I’ve used a GentleLASE and a Soprano. The former gave me excellent massive clearance, but the pain was allot. It cleared atleast 70% of my face over 7 appointments. Then my clinic switched to a Soprano. Well even though I know some of the pain reduction and slower progress is from all the clearance already accomplished, I know it went allittle slower than my experience with the Alexandrite. Rather than perfect squares of clearance I would get with the GentleLASE the week after the Soprano would kill this hair, but not that, and so on.
However the pain reduction is allot, still has that distinct laser ‘sting’ feeling. But the soprano feels like tiny taps on the skin next to GentleLase. Also besides some redness around the folicles my skin would always be back to normal within the hour. My technician was not light handed with either machines. I’ve only did 3 sessions with it and am now finishing up with electrolysis as it was just getting too sporadic to justify laser.
It sounds like they weren’t using high enough settings on the Soprano. If the settings were effective and affecting the hair, you would still feel the pain.
Well it was still pain and likely enough to make someone unaccustomed to laser flinch a bit even with me taking tylenol and numbing cream, but I’ve gotten strong nerves.
Still I could not help but feel like it was feeble next to my best treatments and that they could take it allot higher. From what she put me through with the earlier machine it was likely just ignorance of what the machine could do.
