SOMEONE!

Can someone PLEASE let me know based on experience an electrologist that is skilled in Toronto. I’ve been PMing ppl about it, doing searches in the forums and writing there, but NO ONE gets back to me!
Please it would help me out so much!! I am looking for someone with skill, precision, speed and experience.

Thanks to anyone that can help =)

I get lots of people asking me this same question almost daily. Sorry to say, my lament is that all the E’s in the Toronto area that I knew and trusted have either retired, died, or moved away. Sad but true. I even have a few clients who brave the 2 hours and crossing the boarder to see me, because they have not been impressed with the people they have seen in Toronto.

I am sorry to say that other than any positive mentions from users on the site, I have no current information to offer here. The best electrolysis provider I know of in your general area is in Orangeville. If that is considered close enough, or worth the drive, say hello to Kathy at “OffBroadway” when you see her. It has been a long time since I have seen her, and with the new Checkpoint Charlie separating the US and Canada now, I doubt she and I will ever be in the same room at the same time again.

Thanks so much, but she’s only been in the electrologist business since 2003? I don’t know if I’m willing to chance it, I’m looking for someone who just focuses on electrolysis. I wish the people who had success who msg me back =(
It can’t be this hard to find someone in Toronto? It’s such a big city!! aghhhh!

Ps. Have you heard of Sarah Shrigley?

or Betty Craig electrologist in Thornhill?

As any one who has ever done work on my face can tell you, my hairs are the final exam. Kathy Lynn passed. You could do a lot worse than getting work done with her.

If you have read this forum you should have figured out that having 70 years worth of experience in this industry doesn’t make you the best in the business. An old timer with old equipment and an outdated treatment protocol may be able to give good results, but the newly minted practitioner with better equipment, a fresh treatment paradigm, and better vision and lighting and ergonomic work station could work circles around the old salt.

That’s why we say, get as many treatment consultations and sample treatments from as many people as you can before you settle down with one practitioner, and yet, everyone wants to go to one person, and end their search there.

Why are you so afraid of going for a consultation places and having them remove a few hairs to see how you react? I think you’re going to be waiting a really long time if you’re expecting someone here to say, oh I have this place it’s 5 minutes from you, they’ve been doing male’s face only for 50 years and they’re the best in the business.

I’m not doubting that she’s good, its just in most people’s experience they look for “experience” ie. how many years they’ve been doing something, whenever someone decides to buy into something. That is why I hesitated about her, not because I doubt it, but to travel all that way and not be satisfied, I’m just scared.

Is she speedy as well? I’m going to see another electrologist who offers full clearances, then I wanna look for someone more locally for maintenance. Thanks for the referral though, you are the ONLY person who responded to me lol

I’ve been looking for months, and been to 5 electrologists.

  1. who felt like she was plucking out every hair
  2. who kept taking breaks every 5 sec (ok i exaggerate but a lot of breaks) within a 1 hour treatment
  3. she only had 30 min max available and left me scabbing really bad, and also missed so many spots.
  4. had minimal experience, and told me that I could be done in less than 6 months. Treating with 30 min intervals every week? I didn’t even bother with her, it was just high hopes that I was never gonna have
  5. WAY TOO SLOW!! In an hour and a half she only removed a partial part of my face (lower lip!!)

I’m not looking for the best in the business, just someone reputable who knows what they’re doing, isn’t afraid to treat the area, gives me reasonable time frames, good results for the time I ask, proper treatment scheduling, proper aftercare treatment, proper explanation of what they’re doing, accuracy, speed, efficiency, and most of all someone who loves what they do. Because that is when you know you’ll get results.
I don’t think I’m asking too much for the process, time, not to mention money I will be putting into something like this. I want to know that I am not wasting their time nor mine.

Am I being unreasonable?

desperate,

I have a new client who is from Toronto, Canada. She see’s a lady by the name of Dorothy. Dorothy and her sister work together. They have an Apilus Senior and she said she likes Dorthy’s speed (10 insertions a minute). Thermolysis is used. She has had a lot of facial electrolysis done and from my viewpoint, her skin looks great. If you give me some time, I will try to get location information. She’ll be back in Canada for a visit this week, so hopefully I will be able to reach her before she leaves. She actually booked an appointment with Dorothy while I was working on her yesterday! Until then, maybe you can find Dorothy the electrologist on your own. The other thing she said is the sisters are of Iranian decent (my client is, too). Maybe that bit of information will help as well.

Dee

Oh thanks so much!!! I appreciate it a lot! It’s been so depressing I haven’t found anyone that has the skill to back up the results they tell me they can achieve. Your client goes to you and Dorothy? Sorry to ask, but is there a reason she is seeing two electrologists? Also if you can pm me the location that would greatly help, but I will try to find her on my own!

Thanks again!

so i found dorothy lol…she’s not in toronto she’s in sudbury =( that’s a 4 hour drive one way :’( thanks for trying though

Oh, maybe that will help someone near Sudbury. Re you sure it’s the same Dorothy?

I don’t know their work personally, but I have heard positive mentions about Bishop’s Electrolysis (http://www.bishopelectrolysis.on.ca/)

She uses the same excellent scope James uses, and she might have upgraded to an Apilus Platinum by now (even then, the SM-500 is a good machine, and what I use.)

Ya it’s the same Dorothy… two sisters right?

Re: VickieCNY- I’ve been to Bishops like a while back, and I stopped going almost a year ago because she is EXTREMELY SLOW! I’ve had long treatment sessions with her and it feels like she removes a hair per 2 minutes. Then when I go home to look at the area A LOT of the dark hairs are still there, and noticeable. It looks really uneven, and I went to her for a few months…then I decided it’s gonna take forever with her so I stopped, and have been ever since looking for someone new.

Have you called and sampled all of these? These are listed via Google search.

Btw, I don’t know what’s wrong with someone who’s been doing electrolysis since 2002. That’s 8 years. My main electrologist has only been doing it for 2 years when I first started going to her and I got great results. You need to sample a treatment and see how things go. They don’t need years of experience to be great. It doesn’t take that long to learn to do good insertions if you’re working on people every day and get lots of practice. Not to mention all the practice they have to do while in school. In fact, some electrologists who’ve been in the business for 20 years refuse to use anything other than the slow galvanic method and learn about new developments in the machines and industry.

Bottom line is that you just need to go for sample treatments and consultations, and you’ll find your electrologist. You can narrow things down by calling them first to see the method they use and how they answer your basic questions.

I know that it’s not about the years but I just want someone who is good at what they do! and I think I’ve found someone!!
Advanced Comfort Electrolysis- she works out of her home, but she sounds really nice and informative and said I could even talk with one of her clients.

She doesn’t charge a lot though, which is good, because everywhere else is quoting $70+ for an hour. she charges $50. She uses the blend because she said its the most effective in her opinion. The other electrolysis I went to use Thermolysis, not sure what the difference is…and I didn’t wanna ask, but I will at the consult.

Has anyone ever heard of Advanced comfort, she said she studied with Elizabeth Gay Meharg? she’s being doing it for 11 yrs. And what I really like about her is that she sounds honest and not pushy to come to her, because of where I live she said if its not convenient for you to come her try to find someone closer. So she didn’t say “oh I’m the best no one else can do this only come to me”…I appreciate honesty =)

Once again, bottom line is when you go in and sample the treatment, you’ll be able to tell whether it’s good.

Blend is a slower method. It removes 2-3 hairs per minute. Thermolysis removes 5-10. They’re both effective when done well. Blend is sometimes necessary on the very deep hair like on nipple area, but for most other hair thermolysis is just fine.

You can be good after 6 months or doing electrolysis and bad after doing it for 20 years. I wouldn’t judge based on that. I would judge simply by making sure the hair slides out without resistance after being zapped and that they know how to adjust settings to make it effective, but also comfortable for your skin to avoid too many side effects.

Aftercare is really up to you to get done right. Avoid using anything with chemicals, including makeup, on skin that hasn’t healed yet and use witch hazel to help it heal.

Thanks for the info! Ya she said the coarses hairs she likes to use blend. So she said she has to evaluate me when I go in. I’m excited and nervous, but she said she tells her clients hair count when the sessions done, when I went to the other electrologist she said it was against their oath? I have no idea why she would say that because everyone thats had treatments here seem to know just how many hairs their electrologist extracts.

This electrologist even said she’ll show me how the hair looks when it is extracted, so I’m excited cause I’ve never seen how it looks =)

Hi:

One hair per two minutes sounds incredibly slow, so I hope that wasn’t for real.

I had most of mine done with thermolysis and only had blend done for any really stubborn hairs that kept coming back. With this mode you can get several hundred hairs removed in one hour, much less per hour with blend.

50 dollars an hour sounds pretty reasonable, so she is worth a try.
