I am 20 yrs old. I have hair all over my body too but I ahve yet to go to adoctor…I am in NY/NJ area I hoipe i dont have same problema s you =( Try seeing an endocrinologist…tehy will only perscribe if u have hormonal imbalance not if it is genetic which is what i am worried about

[color:“purple”]babba,

You should definitely see an endocrinologist who deals with hirsutism.

I’ve suffered with this same problem for many years and have just recently gone off of spironolactone (after 20 years - my endo felt my hormone levels had been suppressed long enough, we’ll see how it goes) but am still taking the birth control pill.

My hormone levels were in the normal range, no PCOS, problem is that my hair follicles are more sensitive to androgens.

Have your doctors tested your homones? Acne and hirsutism can be symptoms of PCOS.

Also, while the excess hair may be hereditary, the underlying cause of it may be an inherited hormonal condition.

Good luck. [/color]

If you want to find out the cause of your hirsutism, consider locating a reproductive endocrinologist as they are not so much diverted by the more common diabetic patient and will attend to your female hormonal issues. If you finally do find a helpful endocrinologist, share the info. here please.

i have same problem like you. i just wish there was a cure so i dont have to keep hiding from my partner

Hi:

The reason why doctors don’t want to prescribe spironolactone/aldactone is since it will harm fetal developement in male children if you became pregnant.
If you had a birth defect in your child, then they would be liable since they prescribed it for you.

you can buy spiro easily online at various online pharmacies. Its quite cheap!

you know I have the same problem, I tried telling my docs, but they just don’t listen, they recommned laser, and electrolysis <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />. They all said it’s genetic. excuess me but but none of my family members have this problem!!!

I use Spiro and I never went to the doctor. There is an online pharmacy I can recommend that’s really inexpensive, but I am not sure if I can post the link here. If you want to you can PM me.

Please keep that information private.

After all, with the legal climate in the US, we don’t want to tempt fate. As G. Gordon Liddey says, “When I was a kid breaking the law required premeditation, determination and in many cases some amounts of malace. Now, one breaks the law on a daily basis and does not even know it.”

Hi:

A while ago I posted this:

It is one thing for a genetic male to take spironolactone and probably all it will harm is their libido or possibly their ability to have sex. They should also be aware that they will have to watch their potassium intake since it will cause their body to retain potassium.

However women who could get pregnant have to be careful since it could harm the baby. Nobody wants to bring a child into the world who could have a birth defect if they can prevent it.
