I have a few questions about laser treatment:

  1. How do I find out my skin type? I have light brown skin (think Vanessa Williams tone) and dark coarse hair.

  2. How long does the hair stay away with laser treatment?

  3. Is there any way to KEEP the hair away after laser? Like laser coupled with something else?

  4. When the hair does come back, will it at least come back lighter and softer so that I can at least bleach it without it looking too fake?

I may have more questions later, but this is all I can think of for now.

Hi, I hope I can answer some of your questions. As far as your skin type, it sounds like you are a Fitzpatrick 4(rarely burn, tans easily). You should investigate a practice with an NdYag 1064 - this would be the safest for your skin type. You can reasonably expect 20-30% permanent reduction/removal with each treatment, and approximately 70-90% permanent reduction/removal after 5 or 6 treatments. This reduction is permanent, with the remaining hair very fine and light. This remaining hair can be shaved, bleached or removed with electrolysis.
