So disappointed that i broke down and plucked!

Some of you may know that i was seeing someone for electrolysis on the area under the eyebrows. It was a very small area and after many treatments for over two years plus i began to wonder why it was taking so long.

After reading this forum for the first time i realised that my blind trust was horribly naive as i had been given absolutely no plan or instruction and had been innocently plucking between times of seeing her with no idea that this would affect outcome. My practioner knew as well but said nothing. I would ask if there was anything i should know or could do to make this work as best as possible and she had no comments other than hormones can affect treatments. In a 20 minute appointment there were aprox 20 hairs removed but I was just so happy that treatment was underway and a dream was possible to achieve! We got along very well ,i felt comfortable with her and over that time much was shared and she felt like a friend! I always looked forward to our sessions and she was clean and seemed professional.

LOTS of money and time later , the same hairs still appearing in this same small area and finally i came here and was shocked when i read about eyebrows being treated in so few sessions and that there is definitely a protocol for successful results! I was educated by reading this forum and am forever greatful but it also kind of broke my spirits in relation to continuing to see my tech. I called her office to ask the name of the machine she used , she would have NO REASON to suspect anything as to date our relationship has been excellent and to my surprise they would not release that info to me! After all this time with her i was not allowed to get the name of the machine?!! It has been a difficult , heartbreaking issue for me because it is a small town and i am not sure how or if i should even bother letting her know how disappointed i am by her lack giving me key information and weather i could even find anyone else to continue.

So though i have been feeling so super disappointed about her i did not really want to let it go of continuing electrolysis as i figured that all would be lost if i didnt try to finish the job. And also with what i have learned on this forum and all the sucess stories,I really hoped to treat other areas with electrolysis.

This is a small town and there is very few choices and generally i find levels of professionalism very low. Yesterday i went to the one other person who advertised as a pro electrolysist with 25 years experience. This time i knew and asked for a consult before i just sat in the chair and proceeded like i had before.

What a huge disappointment. Her office looked dirty and her table a mess. Her hands were super shakey and i felt bad for her but it scared me to wonder how can someone with such bad shaking handle a needle ?? She knew nothing about laurirer probes which is fine . When she went to do a test session on my eyebrows i was shocked that she did not clean the area at all. She also continuously was touching my eyebrows and her hands looked dirty (no there was no gloves which is fine if her hands looked clean but…) and her nails even dirtier!

Then the cherry on the cake was when she would put the probe into the skin beneath my eyebrow, steady her shaking hands by resting on me and then nothing would happen! It was a very slow process but it also was with my previous practioner. She fiddled around, inserted the probe again and tried several more times but her machine just did not work! It worked a couple times and then stopped again while i sat there with the probe in my eyebrow and she would turn around wondering why the machine wasn’t working.

I was so turned off, that i cut the session short , was nice ,as i am not into hurting peoples feelings, but suggested she may need to have her machine repaired and thanked her for the consult.I knew that i would not be returning.

She told me she did not know why that was happening and told me how great her machine is and how it is computer controlled to know levels of energy needed as it reads moisture content etc. Her machine did not look like a computer controlled device to me, in fact it looked ancient, of course i cant say is not a good one ,and she has been doing it for a long while so it must work fine, but i doubt about the high tech aspect of it. It was called a Compublend by Fischer. Is that a great machine?

The last straw was when at the end of treatement she did not appy anything to my eyebrows. No alchohol, no with witch hazel, nothing…!
I had to change my days plan just to get back home to apply astringent to my eyebrows afterward as with her dirty hands i just felt really vulnerable.

I feel so disheartened! I just cried and felt totally bummed ut. I gave up on the eyebrow area and plucked the entire area that i had let grow out in hopes of treatment. It may be possible to travel for laser but not electrolysis due to the regular sessions required. It costs me at least 300- 400 $ just to fly to the closest cities. I feel like there is no hope to do what so many are able to do for their hair issues. Ive been down and bummed out since…:frowning: thanks for providing a place for my cyber tears

Have you posted any photos of the area?

Its not a terrible thing to tweeze your eyebrows.

Given enough time with tweezing those eyebrows, they grow back less and less as we age.

(This only pertains to eyebrows, not other areas of the face.)

Tjeena Danika …

Your post is a “joke” right? I mean, this really happened? (Sorry if it really did, but … DAMN!)

No Michael, it is NOT a joke, this is all true . I wish it was a joke, it might not hurt so much. a bigger pain is that it doesnt look to promising to be able to treat other areas. Honestly am just super bummed out.

Arlene, i have had relations ,that live elsewhere of course, that have had such beautiful electrolysis done on thier eyebrows and elasewhere and was what inspired me to go for it.

Any of you know about that machine? Just curious

I was just admiring joesfa’s (?) work…and it gave me an idea. I am looking at laser possiblities in another city which i would have to travel to. If one was trying to do electrolysis for example on sideburn area is it realistic to find someone there to do electorlysis reatments at the same time? Could one expect decent results this way or is it something that you really need frequest visits to do well. It seemed like she had amazing results in three treatments spread out , with a few months between three sessions.

Today i noticed little tiny scabs onthe few hairs she had removed during the bad trial run the other day. It did feel like the hair slide out much more so than with the tech i had seen for years yet and it was alos no pain at all, but i had never gotten these tiny scabs before. Is it a sign that it was more effective than my
regular tech or ??

Small scabs are fine, Danika. What is your aftercare?

So the fact that i never got any scabs with the first woman does that mean it was not as effective. I was not given any info about after care. I am just using oil, aloe vera gel to keep area moist…i have VERY dry skin! And trying to stay out of sun …sometimes sunscreen when in sun

I hope you don’t mind me bumping in since you mentioned the sun I thought I’d ask something I’ve been wondering about for a while. Some sites say you can’t be in the sun 48 hours post electrolysis treatment. But can you after that? Or is like laser where you have to avoid the sun for a long time…thanks.

dont mind at all …SOOOOO many great questions!

Scabs do not equal effective treatment. I do lots of facial hair and scabbing is not a complaint I hear about. People either say they didn’t scab or that the few scabs they did get were gone within a week. These people are on with their lives, and not thinking about facial hair, within 9-18 months, depending on the situation.

I tell my clients to avoid the sun three days before a session and three days after at minimum. I would prefer a week after a session, but they don’t always comply. You need more time without sun with laser before you start because you need to be as pale as possible, then you need to stay as pale as possible for subsequent treatments.
