Skin reaction to electrolysis treatment - PICS

James, if you can, I don’t mind if you share the pics I had sent of my bikini area being worked on.

As requested by “OfficeDuster” here are her pics of her post treatment experience with an electrologist near her. I did not do this work. As you can plainly see in the previous post, my clients don’t usually look like this after treatment, but this is not the worst post treatment result, and will heal up in 3 weeks or less.

Officeduster,

These appear to be pictures taken a couple days or more after a treatment because of the scab formation. How long after your treatment were these pictures taken?

Also, would you be willing to take pictures three or four weeks after your treatment so we can see the before and after. I’m sure there are some that are sceptical that this area will look fine with time.

Dee

Is that normal? How long after your treatment was that taken? How long were you treated?

I get the same level of scabbing except that my scabs are in the shape of little red rods as opposed to the dots that you have.

However, my surface area is never that large. What method was your electologist using and how long did it take to clear all that?

i had gone a few times in one week, the pics were taken a few days after. I dont know what the type I get done is, sorry :\ I only know the name in the machine is Kree I think, but not sure what method. I can take more pics, sure. Some of the scabs have started to go away. I may have to add that my skin bruises, scabs, etc easily and stays that way for quite some time even with regular little cuts, etc… could be why mine looks so bad, too. I will take pics again soon!

I have sent updated scab pics.

Here are the updated pics from OfficeDuster:

So you see, although it would be nice to have someone who does the work without this short-term result, even if this is the best you can get in your area, you still heal up well, and in a short time compared to the rest of your life.

it might be healing, but it is definitely leaving scars. better to save or wax than this.

Vanessa,
How do you know it is leaving scars? These pictures seem to show the treated area to be healing. How do you know how one person’s skin will heal and whether or not it will leave scars? If OfficeDuster is seeking permanent hair removal, why would you tell her that it is “better to shave or wax than this?” Her body…
Your paranoia sometimes scares me. Yes at times I too am skeptical of electrolysis but that’s only because I haven’t yet begun. There are enough people on this board whose results speak for their selves.

When OfficeDuster is more advanced in her treatments, should she continue to share her pictures with us, you all will see that even this heals up to looking like nothing ever happened, and no hair ever grew there.

No, she wouldn’t want to go to a swimming pool right now, (and that would not be good for her healing skin either) but once it heals up, and all the scabs fall off, she will be ready for the nudist beach should she be of a mind to go there.

LOL! Thats right! I wont be done for quite some time, for I am going for taking it all off, or pretty much so.

I will take pics by the end of this week to show what else has healed.

Thanks for the charming picture Officeduster! The second picture was too blurry for me to evaluate, but the first picture looked like progress in action. I guess there are still skeptics, so yeah, if you can keep posting at intervals,it will be fun to watch the fabulous healing powers of your skin.

I guess I’m confused, so could you tell me what date you had the first treatment and then how many days/weeks post treatment this last picture was taken. If you could post the date with future pictures we would all be so grateful to you.

Great job with the pictures and we all APPRECIATE VERY MUCH the time and effort you put forth to inform us hairtell junkies. And thanks to you James, also.

Dee

md1239, i amnot trying to dictate anyone what to do with their hair. i just said that if my electrologist did that to my skin, bleeding and forming scabs, i would definitely look for another electrolist. when skin heals and the scabs fall, the new skin is a lot lighter in colour compared to the surrounding skin. and these are the scars of a healed skin. you can chose to believe whatever you like about electrolysis. i am just saying that it is definitely not the best thing one could do to his skin and one should do it only when it is absolutely necassary. and yes, i would prefer to wax my bikini than gets scabs. that’s my personal opinion, i am not dictating other people what to do. and i don’t like you calling me paranoid, just because i am realistic and see things they way they really are. and if i were you, i would apologise.

if my electrologist did that to my skin, bleeding and forming scabs,

Hi Vanessa,
Maybe the super-enlarged photos are giving the wrong impression. The scabs are not the result of blood oozing from all those pores.

when skin heals and the scabs fall, the new skin is a lot lighter in colour compared to the surrounding skin.

This isn’t necessarily true. Traditional scabs, like when you scrape up your knee, take more than a week to heal and disappear. Sometimes, yes, the skin is a lot lighter in color, sometimes no. It seems to depend on how thick and large the scab is. (Though maybe it also depends on if the area has been exposed to the sun during healing?) No matter what, the skin tone eventually evens out.

Electrolysis scabs appear about 2-3 days after a treatment and disappear about 2 days later. They are incredibly thin (not thick) and tiny—the size of a pore. Since they are not of the same magnitude of thick scabs caused by scrapes, they don’t last long and there is no difference in the color of the skin when they fall away.

why am i getting pimples on the area treated? the funny thing is that i only get them on my left cheek and under the chin, not at all on the right cheek, probably because i didnt have much hair there. they are more like whiteheads. i followed all after treatment care instruction so i dont think it has anything to do with infection. could it be that too high intensity was used? or that i am allergic to the current?

Hi I checked my appointment cards, and I see I started the bikini on February 24th, 2005. I think maybe that since I wear very tight jeans that it could be why the scabs are dark, and no, Vanessa, it doesnt bleed when I get it done, if I get my nails there and scratch it does. JUST AS WOULD WITH ANY CUT OR SCAB from a natural incident. I was told I could use Caladryl for it if I get the itchies.

I will take pics again in a few minutes and send them so they can get posted hopsefully I can take clearer ones.

Yes, you should wear loose fitting clothes after treatment. A dress or skirt would be best. This is even a great excuse to wear no underwear, as you want the treatment area to be clean, dry and touched as little as possible. YOu certainly don’t want it rubbed the way tight jeans would.

It could be from too high intensity, but then you’d be getting them on the right side too. Are you right-handed? Do you spend a lot of time at a desk? It could be from holding your left hand up to your face while reading or writing. Or from holding a phone to that side of your face.

It’s definitely not from being allergic to the current, because the current is just heat (if you’re getting thermolysis, aka shortwave).

I sometimes got the whiteheads in the first few months of my treatments. I found that tea tree oil cleared them out the best for me, though it made my skin insanely red. (It’s possible I was allergic to the oil.) Some people here also swear by Tend Skin. Any other suggestions out there?

i hope this helps,
