Skin issues

Hello. I am a female undergoing electrolysis on my chin/upper lip.

I have been shaving my chin for the past few months (we havent gotten to ithese areas yet) and i get the worst dry, scaly, flaky skin from doing so. I have been using decent razors, lately ive been trying coconut oul?!

Any suggestions?

I guess this is a shaving question. Thank you!

What do you use on your skin when you shave? I spot shave and put a generous amount of a facial moisturizer on first instead of any shaving cream. I follow that up with more moisturizer afterwards.

Apply a no nonsense, fragrance-free moisturizer such as ‘Cera Ve’ or
‘Vanicream’ to damp skin. Also, ‘Neutrogena Hydro Boost’ gel cream for extra dry
skin (a humectant), can be used (on damp skin) under any moisturizer.

I only get dry/flaky skin after something special happens to my skin (like needling, scraping or electro), so maybe you’re applying too much pressure on the razor which might remove a few layers of cells. The skin might be trying to repair itself, hence the dryness.

I personally just wait a few days and it comes back to normal. No creams necessary.

Actually, why not put your coconut oil BEFORE shaving, so the razor slides better instead of ‘‘scraping’’? Or maybe shave in the shower with or without soap. Just a few ideas…

All of this is assuming the shaving is what causes your dry skin, but maybe it’s the amount of damn creams or oils that you all seem to love putting on your faces that creates it. Sorry not sorry!

Cera Ve is one of the best moisturizers out there! I like it better than Cetaphil or Neurtogena for the face, it’s light and none shiny and tackles dry skin extremely well for me. Their skin renewal night cream is some serious stuff when it comes to tackling dry skin.
What type/brand of razor do you use and what type of shaving cream do you use? I personally do not recommend any shave foam out of a can because it’s so drying, prefer shave creams that are free of alcohol and tons of menthol.
