Should I shave before treatment ?

Should I shave before treatment ?

if yes … 3 days or 1 day before the treatment ?

or Is it better to make the treatment with small hair not long ?

I shave the day before my treatment. You should be bare so the laser attacks the dark hair in the follicle. If you have dark hair on the surface, the laser will attack most of the energy from the laser is concentrated on the hair that you see versus the root/follicle, which is what you want to kill.

I would shave the morning of or the night before treatment. I would always leave a small patch so the tech could examine the thickness of the hairs if required. She would always shave these bits for me and any other patches I missed, before starting treatment. If I was having a large area treated, such as the legs, I’d leave a patch on both the lower and upper part.

I recommend shaving 1-2 days before. You want just a tiny bit of stubble so it’s easy to see where to treat.

Usually a day before is just fine.

What about using a depilatory cream? I am getting LHR on my chest on Wednesday. Shaving it always brings out these awful red bumps all over it, and makes it very scratchy and uncomfortable, so if it’s possible to use depilatory cream then I’d rather do that. Would do this have any bad effects on the LHR treatment?

Technically, you can, but I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s a lot of chemicals and you don’t know how your skin will react with the laser.

What are you using to shave? It shouldn’t be scratchy if you shave the day before. Use a 3-5 blade razor, soak for 10 mins in warm water, use shaving GEL (not cream) and shave against the grain.
